annettepiper is taking a short break
With rural views of valleys and hills, a magnificient sky that is usually bright blue and much peace (apart from the occasional mooing cow!) it is an ideal place to design and create one of a kind pieces of jewellery.
Gemstones are my passion and I want to share this with you through my creations.

Are the stones you use "real"?
Yes, all the gemstones I use are from the earth (or sometimes the sea). Some gemstones have been treated and this is noted where known and where applicable.
What type of pearls do you use?
I use freshwater pearls in a variety of shapes and sizes. Most have been treated to alter their colour and this is noted where applicable.
What metals do you use?
I use sterling silver, argentinium sterling silver, 12ct or 14ct gold fill, vermeil (carat gold over sterling silver) and carat gold on request.
Where do you get your gemstones and pearls?
I look all over the world to find stones that are unusual so I guess "worldwide"!
Do you make everything yourself?
I design and create every piece you see here. The stones are already cut into the shape you see and I use some bought components if they are 'right' for the design. I know where my strengths lie, and if I feel a component from someone else may be of a higher quality then I will use those to enhance my work and to make it the best that it can be.
Do you have any formal training?
Yes, I qualified as a gemmologist through the Gemmological Association of Australia in 1986 and worked in the jewellery trade in Sydney for a number of years.
Although I was trained in basic aspects of jewellery repair, I have undertaken further courses in working with silver with a local goldsmith. Alternately, some skills have been gained through much practice!
How can you sell your items at such reasonable prices?
As I do this as a 'hobby', my overheads are very low. I pass on these savings directly to you and don't inflate my prices, even though you would pay far more in a retail situation.
