This is how my studio looks when it's all tidied up, in this case because I was participating in a studio open day in Utrecht.
The big yarn wrapped frame isn't shippable because of its size, but I'm working on a series of shippable variations!
I already knew I liked yarn wrapping picture frames, but now I know I also like wrapping curtain rings! I guess I just like wrapping stuff with yarn :)
I added another curtain ring tapestry to my shop, go check it out!
I found a lot of these wooden curtain rings at a local thrift store. They were a bit dusty, but I've washed them and used them in my latest series of wall hangings. I added the first one to my shop today! Go check it out :)

Hi! My name is, as you might have guessed, Annienke and I’m a designer and fiber artist based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I’m a lover of traditional crafts, cats, black coffee, thrift stores and silly things.
I get inspired by finding the extraordinary in ordinary objects and everyday situations. I am a perfectionist, but I see beauty in imperfection and I do my best to embrace the imperfections in my own work.

I completed my bachelor in Fashion Design at the Utrecht School of the Arts, but I came out of that with a love-hate relationship with the (fast) fashion industry. I still make garments for an Amsterdam based designer as a side job, but in my own work I’m focussing more and more on my love for textiles.

I started out making accessories, like the wishbox necklaces and hairy earrings. Now I’m focussing on my textile wall hangings. By experimenting with traditional crafting techniques, like macramé, weaving or embroidery, I find my own way of using them in a different, more modern manner.
The slowness of the process of making something by hand is meditative. Designs grow organically and I think this shows in the final product.

Through my work I share my love for handmade unique products, by offering an alternative for all things mass-produced. I hope to spread appreciation for slow design, attention to detail and one of a kind products that actually tell a story and have character to them. Not produced for quick profit, but made with love and attention. I think Etsy is a great platform to share this view with likeminded people!

I also love repurposing objects or materials, because I see beauty in their imperfections. Not being perfect often means being one of a kind. If an object is old and shabby or no longer useable for its original purpose, I’ll find a new purpose for it in my work.

I hope you enjoy my work and please share if you know someone who will appreciate it as well :)
