5 out of 5 starsI love this print so much! It came with a note about the inspiration behind the art, which I loved so much <3 I'm gonna start including something similar in orders from my shop :) Overall, I love this print and I can't wait to get it on my wall!

5 out of 5 starsThe print was a gift for my next-youngest daughter, who really needed the lift!
The quote was perfect, and the drawing reminded me of times when I'd take her and her sister outside at night to look at the planets and stars.
Lovely work! -

5 out of 5 starsThe print far exceeded my expectations, and as an early Christmas gift for my eldest daughter greatly delighted us both! (I was with her when it was delivered - SURPRISE!) The packaging was so thoughtful - the print was not only enclosed in a plastic envelope but was also wrapped in a lovely piece of cotton cloth. The sturdy envelope carried festive holiday ink stamps as well as a hand-written 'Merry Christmas'! We are quite pleased, and will keep an eye on Ann's Etsy store for future purchases!

5 out of 5 starsI am so in love with this print! I discovered her work at my local arts festival where I bought another of her prints. Her style drew me in and I knew I had to have more than one of her pieces! And she sent just the sweetest handwritten note with my package. I can't wait to see more from her!

Ann Vann Art | Fill in the Lines
I love to hear the different stories that people pull from my work, because they are often very different from what I was thinking about while making the piece.
Narrative is the theme that runs through my work. I am an unabashed bookworm, and this comes through in my explorations of folktales, history, science and nature.
Visually, I am most interested in pattern and texture, and how these effect the illusion of depth within a two-dimensional piece.
My choice to create mainly on black and white allows the viewer to focus on the intricate marks my pen makes on paper.
Please step into the world of my art, and bring your stories. I’d love to hear them.
ARTISTIC PROCESS
My original pen-and-ink drawings are very intricate. The time-intensive craftsmanship of each piece means commissioning and making each work is a commitment.
I wanted to make my artwork more accessible while still offering quality. To do this, I've started selling archival-quality prints of my original drawings.
After drawing an image in pen and ink, I scan it at a high resolution and then optimize it for printing in Photoshop.
Each piece is printed on acid-free card-stock with archival inks. I then mat each print, and ship them in stay-flat mailers.
ABOUT ME
I graduated with a BFA in sculpture and drawing in 2010. In 2012, I moved to Huntsville, AL with my husband, Joe, to be near his family. I started a small art gallery, selling my drawings and work by other Huntsville artists.
A costly medical emergency led to my closing the gallery and working as an instructor at a local Maker's Lab.
Right now, I juggle teaching part-time with freelancing and making my art. I'm incredibly lucky to have my family in my corner. I couldn't do this without them.
