Familiar with the sour feeling of missing out on an opportunity? Of having an idea, and not following through? Maybe because you didn’t believe you could do it, or the challenge seemed too big, or just because you’re so set in your life, doing what everyone else does that it seems absurd?
And then, 2 years later you find out that your idea has evolved and developed successfully but by someone else…?

This feeling, along with my midlife crisis (just hit my 40s), my father dying unexpectedly from covid in a truly tragic circumstances, the realization that I do not have a healthy life-work balance and I’m missing out my children’s childhood made me resign my comfortable mechanical engineer dayjob.
The first question I got was, where is my next workplace and how big of an upgrade in salary and terms did I get.
I answered that I’m going home. No upgrade, no salary, just home.
The look on the faces I got in response said it all. I’m crazy and lost my marbles.
That was a tough step.

I decided to stop fantasizing and start trying to fulfill my dreams.
That is not as easy as it sounds. I learned to use electrical carpentry tools – Planer, Router, Jigsaw, Table saw and more. Made a lot of mistakes, broke some bits, ruined some parts, and learned how to salvage some of my mistakes, All by watching YouTube, Instagram and just trial by error.
This shop and all the handmade items in it are my first step in fulfilling one of my dreams.
