Janet is an amazing artist and her tutorial is an awesome detailed resource of invaluable knowledge about raku and how to perfect the look with ease. I love the raku look and was able to duplicate it without a kiln or expensive tools. I am always impressed by her kindness and willingness to help other artists further their crafts and art. You wont be disappointed as she truly is a teacher and skilled mixed media artist i have been fortunate to have followed and found inspiration in time and again.

About

Adventures in Jewelrymaking

I am a Denver native, currently living near Fort Worth, Texas.

I have enjoyed working in many mediums, often incorporating techniques or materials from other art disciplines into my assemblage jewelry pieces.

For more than a decade, I have made the technical skills I've developed accessible to others in my community through a variety of online tutorials, technical workshops and college classes. I am the author of numerous articles in publications with international circulation, including seventeen technique articles in Belle Armoire Jewelry magazine.

Drawing from a strong interest in science, natural history and historical art and artifacts, my work combines metals, minerals, fossils, gemstones, textiles and/or historic objects, using traditional and innovative techniques.

Please visit my website at http://www.anvilartifacts.com or my blog to share in my adventures. http://www.anvilartifacts.blogspot.com

I am a one woman show. You can rest assured that your purchase is handmade by me. I use components, beads & focal pieces created by myself and other artists, vintage & unique found items and the occasional purchased findings in my jewelry. Enjoy!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
I currently accept payments via direct checkout with credit cards and Paypal. Payment is due at the time of sale. Please contact me to make other arrangements. I am happy to accommodate special requests whenever I can.

I accept "other" methods of payment only by prior arrangement. Please contact me prior to making a purchase if you would like to discuss payment methods other than Paypal or Direct check out.

Please verify or specify the address you would like me to ship your purchase to.

Texas sales tax must be collected by law for purchases by buyers in Texas. This will be calculated automatically at checkout.
Shipping
I ship twice a week, 1-3 business days after purchase, through the United States Postal Service. The U.S. Postal Service has occasional holiday closure dates. If one of these occurs during my usual 1-3 day shipping time frame, it may unavoidably add an additional day before your purchase is shipped. Tracking is included in the shipping fees.

I package my items with the utmost care as I want them to arrive to you in perfect condition. However, it is possible that orders may be damaged while packages are in transit. If you have a shipping damage claim, please contact me as soon as possible. Please send me photos showing the damage to the packaging as well as the damaged item. Please keep ALL of the original packing materials as the shipper may need to see them to process an insurance claim.

I have done my best to accurately calculate shipping charges. However, at times, the online calculator quotes a higher shipping price than the actual cost of shipping an order. If payment for a purchase is made via Paypal or Direct Checkout and there is a difference of two or more dollars in actual shipping costs and what you paid, I am happy to issue a refund. Please contact me to alert me to this if I don't catch it myself.

International customers: I do ship to most countries with the exception of those listed below. Please contact me before attempting to purchase an item, to determine shipping rates to your country, if there is no listed price in my shipping menu.
Please note that buyers are responsible for any and all VAT, handling, duties and customs charges that may be incurred due to your countries import laws. Please contact your Postal Office before ordering as they will be able to tell you what to expect. Customs fees are imposed by your government and are not included in the shipping fees. Your country's customs clerks will add those, if applicable.
It is illegal to falsify a Customs Declaration form. It is punishable by up to a five year prison term and/or a fine of $10,000. It is illegal to falsify the value amount of a sale or to mark merchandise as a "gift" on custom forms. I will not improperly fill out these forms so please do not ask me to do so.

International orders will often arrive within 1-2 weeks of being shipped. Please be aware that they can take 6-8 weeks and possibly longer to arrive. I ship both international and domestic orders within my 1-3 business days shipping time frame. I will provide you with a customs number when your order has shipped.

As of January 17, 2016, the price of shipping internationally has increased considerably. If the actual cost of shipping is less than the online quoted price, please be assured that I will be happy to refund any overpayment to my international customers the same as I do for domestic customers as stated above.

Please be aware that as of June 2016, I am not shipping to EU countries. I apologize to all of my valued EU customers. I am not VAT registered and VAT fees are never included in my sales prices. I hope that the regulations on VAT collection via Etsy sales will be quickly clarified so that I may again serve you. Thank you for your patience while this situation is researched and worked out.

Apologies, but due to high theft rates, I do not ship to Italy or Mexico. For the same reason, shipments to Central America, Cyprus, Turkey, Malaysia and Africa are required to be sent as Registered mail. The cost of this service is $13.95. This cost is in addition to regular shipping fees.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are unhappy with a purchase, please just let me know. I want you to be delighted with your purchase. I would appreciate the opportunity and will do everything possible to make things right and to make you happy with both your purchase and your experience shopping with me.

If you require a return, please contact me first before returning an item. The buyer will have to return the item to me, within ten (10) days of receipt, at their expense, in it's original condition, and packaged with the same care as it was when originally sent to the customer. I provide tracking when shipping orders to my customers (unless tracking is unavailable). I ask that you please obtain tracking as well as insurance (if the order was insured when sent to you) for the return shipment back to me . Shipping fees on a returned item are refundable only if the reason for the return is due to an error in the item listing description made by me.

If you need to contact me about your order, please contact me via the Etsy contact button on your receipt. Occasionally there are glitches with the Etsy convo system. If you have attempted to reach me and have not received a reply, please convo me again. I may not have received your message. I do my best to reply to messages within 24 hours if at all possible.
Additional policies and FAQs
FAQs:

You are purchasing a unique handmade design. Handmade jewelry is often more delicate than jewelry that is mass produced. Please treat your jewelry gently and with reasonable care. It's often made with fragile, vintage pieces.

Many of the vintage items I use in my assemblage pieces will show their age with patinas and signs of former use. This adds to the charm and character of each piece. I often seal the components used in my jewelry assemblages. However, some items are not sealed and may continue to develop a rich patina over time. Please inquire if you have any questions about a particular piece.

Please do not sleep in, clean, shower, shampoo, swim or perform other similar activities while wearing your handcrafted jewelry pieces.
My jewelry pieces are for adult use and wear unless specifically labeled for children.

I use high quality ear wires and earposts in my earrings. Niobium, Titanium, Sterling Silver or Gold-filled. Niobium and Titanium are both a perfect choice for everyone, but especially for those with metal sensitivities. They are both hypoallergenic metals. Niobium is a pure alloy, that has been approved for surgical implants due to its hypo-allergenic properties. Titanium, while a lighter metal than Niobium, is also approved for surgical implants and is safe for those with metal sensitivities. Neither contain nickel My stated earring lengths are for the entire earring, measured from the top of the earwires to the bottom-most part of the earrings.

I often use oxidizers or patinas on my metal jewelry for a variety of effects. When I state that I have preserved the patinas with metal sealant, I use a jewelers grade metal sealant if the metal will be in contact with your skin. I use spray sealant for verdigris patinas that do not contact your skin. I also use wax sealants that are specifically formulated for metal and safe to come in contact with skin (unless someone is allergic to the wax) if micro wax is the specified sealant.

CUSTOM REQUESTS- If you see a SOLD piece that you love, please contact me. While I prefer not to duplicate one-of-a-kind items, I might be able to recreate a similar piece for you. Please be aware that each item is handmade, therefore, there will be differences between the original and the re-created piece. If it is necessary to special order components to complete a custom re-creation request, the end price may be higher than it was for the original item, in order to cover increases in the price of the components and/or shipping charges from the supplier. For new customers, I require payment in full prior to beginning work on a custom order. For established customers, I request a non-refundable deposit of 25% prior to beginning work on a custom order.
Please do not use coupon codes on custom orders.

RESERVE POLICY- To allow me to be able to continue offering reserves for my customers, I ask that you please read and observe my reserve policy before requesting that an item be placed on reserve. For one reason or another, it is not always possible to accommodate a reserve request. I apologize if this is the case regarding an item you would like to place on reserve.
Please be certain that you will be able to complete the purchase before requesting that I place an item on reserve for you.
I place reserves only for established customers and only for a designated amount of time. If the purchase is not completed at the agreed upon time, I will feel free to remove the reserved status. If you are unable to complete the purchase by the stated date, please just let me know and I'll be happy to accommodate you if I can.
Reserved items are considered sold. Placing a reserve on an item makes the item unavailable for sale to other customers. In fairness to other customers and to me as a small shop owner, please be sure that you will be purchasing your item before requesting a reserve. If you have not finalized or been able to complete a purchase on a previously reserved item, please do not ask me to reserve additional items for you in the future.
I respectfully request that you do not ask me to remove a reserve on one item and reserve a different item instead. Thank you to all of my valued customers for understanding.

PDF Tutorials may be purchased via PayPal or Direct Checkout only and are non-refundable. My Tutorials are written in English only at this time.

Please apply COUPON CODES at the time of checkout. Apologies, but they cannot be applied after the purchase is complete.
Please do not use coupon codes on Custom orders.

Please keep in mind that colors may appear somewhat different when viewed on various monitors.

The props used in some of my photos are for display purposes only and are not included in the purchase of the items described in the listing.

I am delighted that you enjoy my work. It is my goal to keep all of my customers happy. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by convo or at AnvilArtifacts [!at] gmail.com
