Announcement    **FREE SHIPPING ON ORDERS OF $35.00+ (orders in the US only).
The post office just increased their rates again!! Want to save on shipping? Spend $35.00 or more, and I'll pay your shipping! I can also mail your card directly to your recipient for the price of a regular stamp. Just write me, and I'll make it happen. I'm very sorry about the rise in prices; both the USPS and Etsy have raised their prices and fees.

Welcome to A Paper Affaire, your place for paper goods for almost any occasion. All my creations are designed and handmade by me.

**Customers in Germany--because of the new packaging laws and shop registration requirement in Germany, I can no longer ship to your country, unfortunately. I will need to cancel any order from Germany.

I send my cards in stay flat rigid mailers which the USPS considers packages (which also include tracking). This is why the shipping costs are so high, and they just went up again! If you are charged more than it costs me, I will refund you the shipping overages. I can also mail cards directly to your recipients and only charge you for a regular stamp! Just convo me.

** International Customers--I'm so sorry about the rise in shipping costs. The US Postal Service raised the prices in January, so I had to raise my prices, too. I can get 5 cards in an envelope for $16.75. I will always refund shipping overages if I can get your package mailed to you for cheaper than what you paid (this is true for all customers, domestic or international).

**Packages to Canada are $14.50 (for 1 to 4 cards). Again, if you pay more than what I'm charged, I will always reimburse you for the difference.

**All of my products are designed and handmade by me with lots of love and attention to detail. They are all hand stamped (images are not computer generated or letterpress) and therefore CANNOT be personalized or customized.
I hope you enjoy my cards as much as I enjoy making them. New products arrive daily (I list 2 or 3 new cards every day), so come back often. Please note: some of my cards have ribbon, rhinestone stickers or raised embellishments. Because of these extras, you may need extra postage if mailing them. Just check with your local post office :)

My Paper and Stamp Addiction

This is how A Paper Affaire started............

I love to travel and used to make scrapbooks of my trips. One day, as I was walking the aisles of Joann's looking for scrapbooking materials, I came across some cute card making embellishments. I started making some very simple cards for friends and family......and loved it.

I would drag out my box of paper and punches and take up our whole tiny dining room table. I hated having to put away my supplies. My husband and I were in the process of building a new house during this time, and I dreamed of having a little studio where I could make cards all day, leave my supplies out and never have to worry about making a mess.

I now have that room and have to say it's my favorite room in our house. I love the colors of my paper, ribbon and inks and I love the smell of paper that fills my nose every time I go in.

About the same time we were building our house, my mom and I discovered a local stamp store that we fell in love with. We loved their simple, whimsical designs and took a few card making classes there. They kept having outrageous sales and I just couldn't pass them up. This is when my stamp collection/obsession really took off.

A friend suggested I sell my cards on Etsy, and initially I said no thinking it would be too complicated, I'm too busy, yada, yada, yada. But after giving it some more thought, I did my research, talked it over with my husband and he gave me the final push and inspiration I needed. I'm so thankful he did this.

I was telling another friend about my obsession with paper and stamps and she said, "Holly, it's like you're having an affair with paper!" She was absolutely right, and this is how my shop name came about.

I'm an ESL instructor at two community colleges and on Fridays, if I don't have any meetings, I spend the entire day in my studio making cards. It's my favorite day of the week. I used to bring the dog bed in with me and my two pups, Dee Dee and Dexter used to join me, but they both passed (within 10.5 months of each other). I miss them so much.

Thanks for reading and for taking an interest in my little shop! :)

Frequently asked questions

Do you do custom orders?

Sure! I love custom orders. I can make custom cards and custom amounts of cards. However, I can't personalize things with names, etc.. I use rubber stamps, not my computer, so the text I can put on my cards is somewhat limited. But please write me a convo to see what I can do.

Can you send a card directly to my recipient?

I'd love to and it's a great way to save on shipping! Just write me a convo with your recipient's address and your message. I'll also reimburse you for most of the shipping since I'll send the card in a regular envelope and use a Forever stamp.

Do you reimburse for shipping overages if I was charged too much?

Definitely! If I can ship your order for less than what you paid, then I'll refund you.

Is there a discount on shipping if I order more than one card?

Definitely! If you order one card, I charge $2.35 to ship it (but it actually costs me $2.75 when I include my envelope). If you order more than one card, it's $.25 to send each extra card. If you order lots of cards, and if you're charged more than what I pay at the post office, I'll refund you for the overages.

How Can I Save on Shipping?

I mail my cards in rigid stay flat envelopes and the USPS considers them packages so that they don't go through a machine that bends them. For this reason, they charge $2.45 to ship them within the U.S., or $13.75 internationally. I can ship them in the same rigid envelopes but can tell the clerk to mail them as large envelopes. The price for this is $1.35 for 2 or 3 cards (within the U.S.) and $2.50 (for one card) for international; however, the card will get a little bent (the clerks tell me that the machine bends envelopes at about a 90 degree angle). If you'd prefer that I mail your cards this way, please convo me and I can change the shipping price for you.
