All Mixed Up Media is Just that! You never know what you'll find!
I started my shop mainly because my family members kept getting my handmade gifts for Christmas and they kept telling me, "You should sell your stuff on the internet". So I started.
Bottom line, I guess I have always been a "Mall Rat". My Mom and Grandma LOVED to shop. And I mean LOVED! So I spent a LOT of time in Department stores as a kid and teenager.
Which leads to my LOVE of fashion, and music. We are all driven by pop culture. Some of us by counter-culture. I love anything strange and unusual but pretty!
I started making things for my immediate family members when I was a kid. And I was always the "drama/art class kid" The skill I acquired followed me into my teenage years and into my 20's. So, I made "copies" of what I saw at the mall. Which eventually morphed into...."I like that necklace, but I would make it like THIS instead." Because it wasn't the right shape,color or ...dammit, it just wasn't punk rock enough! I liked the Punk stuff!!
My mom saw that I had a knack for color and design where jewelry was concerned so she used to buy me certain costume jewelry pieces and other things on clearance and bring them home and say..."here, take this and see of you can make something cool out of it." So I suppose she is the one that pushed me into the "recycle/reuse" aspect of my design. So now when I go "thrifting" nine times out of 10 I come home with a load of things that make no sense whatsoever, and the challenge is "making something cool" !
A lot of what I make, is musically and culturally inspired. My roots are so deep seated in music I just can't get away from it!
