About aprilshowerssoaps
What began as holiday gifts for friends and family in 1999 quickly turned into more soap than we could use!
We enjoy experimenting with color, texture, and scent in making our soaps. Our soap recipe include olive oil, coconut oil, organic & sustainably harvested palm oil, and apricot kernel oil. We make a few variations of our basic soap recipe. Patchouli soap has added hemp oil, our Shaving soap and Shampu bar have added castor oil, and our Vanilla soap has added cocoa butter.
We make soap the old fashioned way using the cold process method of mixing temperature correct oils with a lye solution. The soap mixture is stirred until it slightly thickens then we pour it into a mold to set for several days. Once we release the block of soap from the mold, we cut the block into bars. The freshly cut soap needs to cure for 3-6 weeks. As the soap cures, it hardens and becomes milder.
We use pure essential oils and natural colorants to make a variety of soaps. During the holiday season, we create up to 35 different soaps. The high quality ingredients and care we use in making our soap result in a fabulous smelling bar that is nourishing for your skin and a treat to use. Enjoy!
