We are Michael and Amy, fine art photographers; we live in a woodsy area of State College, PA with our two cats, Salem and Camille.
The story behind ara133photography...
We have learned that the most important thing you can do to be happy is follow your heart, and not listen to what others tell you you should be doing.
Michael was working in sales and marketing, but decided that pursuing photography full-time was the right decision. It's now nearly 3 years since he made the choice to become a professional photographer, and it's been one of the best decisions he's ever made.
He always tells me he loves the spontaneity of photography - to him, each photo shoot is a blank, empty canvas waiting to be filled. He loves the surprises in creating - he says you never know what you might find or how you're going to catch it that day – you never have the exact same lighting, scene, and situation twice. He likes looking at things from a different perspective and photographing them in a way that other people might not immediately recognize.
I became interested in photography after inheriting a film camera from my uncle Jimmy. I eventually became the photographer for our school newspaper in High School, but since then have become more interested in art photography as opposed to journalistic photography. My images are often inspired by books and poems.
I went to school for biology (in fact, Michael and I met while working for the same scientific company), and originally had intentions on becoming a veterinarian. After several emotionally intense internships, I realized that career path was not going to work out for me (bawling my eyes out every day was just too stressful!), and I decided to make some changes. As a student, I needed some supplemental income, and decided to look into selling my photography. It was then that I stumbled across Etsy, and ara133photography was born!
We now run our Etsy shop together, as a husband and wife team, and have learned a lot of lessons on teamwork. We both love having a photography shop on Etsy! We're passionate about photography and about growing as artists, and are always trying something new, whether it be a different way of taking photos or different methods of post-process editing. Our Etsy shop has allowed us to take our art from a hobby, to a true source of income, which has allowed Michael to "quit his day job" and focus all of his attention and time on his art. We hope you enjoy our work! :)

Professional Photography Print Lab
All photographs are printed on high-quality archival paper by a professional print lab located in the United States. We have been working with this same professional lab since early 2008.
In addition to providing affordable high-quality photography/art, we are also committed to providing our customers a wonderful shopping experience on Etsy. We have made recent improvements to provide better service and have all of our standard prints (4x4, 4x6, 5x5, 5x7, 8x8, 8x10) in stock at all times. Our goal is to ship all orders for items in stock within 1 day of receiving payment (same day when possible) . Sometimes a print will sell out and be back-ordered, but we respond to every order and let you know when your order will ship (usually only 4-6 days for back-ordered items). We hope these improvements help to provide a higher level of service that we and our customers have come to expect.

***SALES TAX: Please note, PayPal or Etsy will automatically charge Pennsylvania residents 6% sales tax for purchases from my shop.
US, Canada, All Other Countries:
First Class Mail for all prints up to 8x10, and small prints matted to 8x10.
Priority Mail US: for any prints over 11x14, or multiple matted prints (due to weight and size of the box they are shipped in for safety) This is denoted in the listings in the shop.
Priority INTERNATIONAL: For large prints and heavy matted pieces, I use International First Class mail or International Priority depending on package size and weight (noted in the listings).
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS FORMS:
I mark "other" on all customs forms and list the value of the item not including shipping. Buyer is responsible for any customs fees.

Refunds and Exchanges
RETURNS: All return requests must be made within 30 DAYS from the date of purchase. Please send us a convo through Etsy if you would like to return an item within 30 days from the date you purchased the print(s). We'll help to set up the return and as soon as we receive the item(s) in good condition, we will happily refund your purchase.
DAMAGED ITEMS: We do our very best to package your order to arrive quickly, safely and securely, however in the rare instance when an item arrives damaged, we are always willing to work with you. Generally we don't ask that you ship damaged items back, but a convo or e-mail with a photograph of the damaged item or package would be great! All items shipped USPS Priority Mail are Insured, therefore photographs may be necessary to file a claim with the Post Office. Again, just send a convo and we're happy to work things out with you :)
ITEM NOT RECEIVED: We provide USPS Tracking numbers for all Domestic orders, so If you haven't received your item, there are two things you should do:
1. Under the "Your Account" tab, click on the "Purchases" link. Here you should see a list of your recent orders. Go to the order you placed with us and under "Shipped" you should see a link for "Track Package". We mark "shipped", add tracking numbers, and send an e-mail with this information, for all Domestic Orders.
2. If the package shows it was delivered and you still don't have it, take the tracking number and contact your local Post Office. Occasionally they'll hold packages for customers when they arrive at the Post Office. 99% of the time, "lost" packages have just been waiting at the Post Office.
