My Life of Crafting
I grew up in a very crafty family. My mom and my aunts all like to sew, cross stitch, knit, crochet, and more. My Oma, Dutch for Grandma, did all sorts of crafts and she taught me how to knit and crochet at the age of 8. That is where it all began...
I picked up knitting and crochet again after visiting a new local yarn shop (or LYS). I took a few classes there to renew my skills, but I am mostly self taught in knitting and crochet.
As for the sewing, I am 5'1" so even most "short" or "petite" pants are still too long on me. So I learned how to hem my jeans and other pants. That led to an interest in sewing, and realizing I can make fun gifts for friends and family. I am self taught, and still learning with each project that I complete!
Now as a teacher I have sewn curtains and pillowcases for my classroom as well as made crochet animals for the kids to play with. I use my crafts as stress relief, but Etsy helps me use it to add a little to my income as well. :)
Note: There are no photos of my shop because I don't have a fancy shop or craft room like some. I create in my living room and sew on my dining room table. A craft room would be my dream come true!
