Arlene's Artist Materials started out by artist Arlene Clement and her family as a ceramic studio in 1960, originally located in a small 500 sq ft store on Madison Ave in Albany, NY. Arlene's outgrew their original store and moved to its current location at 57 Fuller Road, Albany, NY (with over 10,000 sq ft) in 1974.

As an independent art supply store, still owned by the same family, we feel a special connection to the arts community in the Capital District. Arlene’s started offering classes and workshops in late 2015 with this goal of further enriching our community. We are proud to work with an amazing group of talented local artists and instructors that bring the highest level of art education to every student. Classes and workshops are small ensuring everyone personalized instruction while still benefiting from working in a group. Topics range over a wide variety of creative pursuits and are geared to all experience levels. Coming full circle, Arlene's advocates for local artists though our R Gallery at Arlene's, our series of Makers Markets at Arlene's, and our annual Arlene's Art Fair.
