Announcement   Thanks for stopping by! I'm Arrik, an Artist and Woodworker from Northeast Connecticut, USA. I've been away for a while as my wife and I built a new home. We are living there now and it is time to open the doors back up!

Arrikworld is what I lovingly call my workshop which is built from an old chicken coop at the foot of a small wood lot. It's a great place to dream and to try to be productive. I hope to make many useful things there... and many things not so useful but perhaps beautiful or interesting to see!

The wooden boxes, carvings and artworks offered here are hand made one of a kind objects. In many cases they use wood I have personally harvested, sawn and dried. They are artfully designed, carefully made and simply finished to a good serviceable condition. With care, they will last a lifetime.

In regard to the wooden boxes, I use, in almost every case, a structural box joint, tightly cut and well glued with modern 'indoor' adhesives. I often use rough sawn wood and enjoy the texture. I enjoy mixing woods and in some cases use plywood for improved stability. Stainless steel fasteners are used to reinforce the solid wood 'working ' styles. I can make boxes for almost any purpose.

All items sold will have notes about care if special care is required and will be shipped double boxed for enhanced protection if required.

The artist took extra care preparing the carving after purchase. He provides excellent communication and ships with packing that is beyond adequate. The piece resonates a subtle intensity. n

About

Woodlot owner became a wood worker..

It may well have started at a very young age when my Grandfather gave me a pocket knife. I used to carve small things and whittle points on sticks.. I enjoyed making and using things of wood. Many years later I became the owner of a small woodlot and first came the chainsaw, then the wood mizer... then other tools.. before long i had more wood than I could use and I began to make carvings and boxes to sell. I built my own shop out of a' falling apart' chicken coop on the land and someday hope to have a house on the hill, built by my own hand as well. This would never have been possible without the support of my wife and family.

My policy is, be productive.. and try to enjoy life. Be helpful if you can.
Toward that end, things should be easy, not difficult. Simpler is better. Rounder is better.
Generally, everything in my shop is one of a kind. I have and will make multi's but happiness is experimenting with different forms and materials, different ways of making things.. even if it is the same darn thing! I do appreciate feedback!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
  • Money Order
  • Check
  • Other Method
Payment
I accept pretty much any type of payment, I will also arrange installments to those who are willing. I am a registered business in CT with a current sales tax certificate, I build CT sales tax into my cost. I accept orders and gladly take returns if they are undamaged or if it is plain to see I screwed something up. Let's communicate to make sure that does not happen.
Shipping
Typically I ship using the USPS, 'my' shipping cost is based on actual ship cost plus a dollar or two to cover the special packaging that is standard with anything you buy here. I take great precaution to pack out items so they will arrive safely, if, as has happened recently a person were to purchase several items, that I can pack together, I will adjust my shipping cost and refund the difference, again, keeping enough to cover in a minimal way my packaging materials.
I can and will ship other ways and with other carriers, please inquire. Unless i am away, which happens from time to time, I will ship immediately or next business day, upon receipt of funds. I have and will ship an item without payment for approval but I have to believe you are for real and then if you like what you get I expect immediate payment unless other arrangements have been made. If you order an item but don't pay, I will initiate a dialog and if I don't hear from you in a week I'll figure you changed your mind and re-list. I am very 'easy' so let me know what is going on and it'll go smooth. I've only shipped as far as Canada... I will ship anywhere but will need to educate myself to whatever governing rules there are, please be understanding and I assure you I will get it done.
Refunds and Exchanges
If something arrives broken or is other than what you expected, of course I will accept the return and offer an immediate refund or try to make it right in any way I can. In those cases I will refund shipping costs as well. If you need a repair or for some reason other than damage wish an exchange, you cover the shipping to me and I'll cover it on the way back. It would not be acceptable to take a delicate item and ship it loosely in an over sized box, if it is ok when you send and comes back to me broken we'll need to chat. Nothing I sell here is made of steel or stone so the items 'must' be appropriately packaged prior to shipment. That is assured from my end. I do insure larger items and those I do not will be replaced.
Additional policies and FAQs
Give me a shout if there is any reason at all, I am easy to reach, enjoy chatting and believe good communication is the key to making things go easy!
