Whether they meant it as a compliment or not, I always took it as one. My favorite times as a child were filled with many imaginary adventures, made up stories, and fairytale daydreams. I also loved showing my creativity through crafts and hobbies. I learned how to sew, crochet and hand embroider by the time I was 13 years old.

Now with five children, I have had new adventures with pretend pirates, princesses, superheroes, grand forts and so much more. I am still raising my youngest two while my older kids have blessed my husband and I with seven grandkids so far. My love for books, art and sewing are being passed down to them.

I have discovered my favorite things to sew and crochet are dolls, plushies and anything that encourages open-ended playtime. Imaginative play is crucial for a child's growth and development. Here are a few benefits for a child:
