Handwork to bring a bit of joy to your life.

I spend a great deal of time gathering my visual information from books, the net, and pictures I've collected over the years. Then there's the selection of fabric, threads, yarns, embellishments and such. Always, more than enough. But slowly, through thoughtful elimination, it all gets reduced to a chosen few.
I aim to express hope, peace or joy in my work. I am heavily influenced by international folk art, embroidery, textiles and traditions.
I am expanding my horizons by experimenting with jewelry making. Here I've incorporated a textile element to the necklaces by adding crocheted motifs. Crochet is my first love...a gift from my grandmother which has lead me here.

Working by hand is important to me. I enjoy the methodical way the pieces take shape. It's easy to make simple adjustments that can mean so much; moving a piece ever so slightly or adding a stitch here instead of there. Wool is my fabric of choice.

My dolls have an underlying Mother Nature theme to them. I try to capture the feelings of peace, love, and order and beauty.
I spend many thoughtful and loving hours in making each one with the aim of invoking goodwill and comfort to its recipient.

I only use quality materials. The bodies are 100% wool fabric, mostly hand dyed. Sometimes I may use recycled woolen, but always wash in a natural detergent before using. My main choice of notions includes wool, cotton and silk floss and yarns, commercial trimmings as well as some vintage. I use quality polyester fiber fill for stuffing.
I work in a smoke free home with one cat.
