This painting is gorgeous. The photo of it on the website does not come close to doing it justice. The colors are vivid and intense. And the movement in this painting flows with the colors. I have placed it on a wall where I can see it daily and let the ever changing depth and feeling soak in. It is truly unique and truly an imaginative and evocative piece of art. I am delighted to have found it.

Very positive experience with the seller. The painting is beautiful. It was shipped in a timely fashion and was packaged very well. Communication with Iris was also very easy, and overall she was a pleasure to work with. I will be visiting her shop often to see what new pieces she may have to offer.

About

My life as an artist

I believe love is important to the spirit as air and water and food are to the body. Love speaks in many languages. In our relationships with others, our relationships with nature and the divine, we express love using kindness, devotion, and by our creative endeavors. Love speaks the language of creativity – visual art, music, writing, etc. We are part of the beauty of nature; we are born to create as an expression of our love.
From a young age, I felt a calling to devote my life to the pursuit of creativity. In my early years, I was determined to become a professional painter, but I later discovered other branches of art and that I wanted to explore – namely music. I graduated from Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Israel, majoring in piano, jazz arrangement and composition, and became a musician, which led me to realize that my heart truly belongs to my first love; visual art.
Upon my arrival in New York City, I decided to enroll in the Art Student's League as a full time student of figurative and abstract drawing and painting. During my transition between music and art, I created a series of paintings with a musical theme; several portraits of jazz musicians, one of them titled 'Submerged' - a portrait of one of my favorite pianists, the legendary Bill Evans. This painting was later chosen as a station logo for Denver Jazz Public Radio station WKUVO in the year 2010.
I also painted many cityscapes inspired by the city I live in and love, New York, and I still incorporate portraits of the city (photographs in collages as well as paintings) in my work. Another body of work involved figurative abstractions of women, which I see as an empowering statement and a feminist declaration.
Most recently was my recycled materials project, in which my purpose is to stress the importance of our role in conserving and protecting our earth. This endeavor culminated in a solo show I had in summer of 2015 at the Gallery Gaia in Brooklyn, where I constructed installations and sculptures using recycled materials (A video of the show can be seen on this page or on You Tube: https://youtu.be/Gnb2SNmpBYo). I am still using this medium and intend to create more work with recycled materials (installations and many more future projects are still in planning or envisioning stages).
I've experimented with various other themes and techniques such as collage and photography, however, my most consistent subject is abstract painting and abstractions. This seems to be an ongoing, ever plentiful source of inspiration for my work. I love to explore new ways of reinventing my visual internal landscape as it manifests through color, line, texture and design.
In my abstract work I incorporate my long lasting practice of Tai Chi and meditation into my creative process. These play out through a meditative state, which is a fertile ground for channeling inspiration from divine source, and practicing a mind-body-spirit connection. In particular, when working at large scale paintings, transference of “chi” (energy) from the universe (Tao), is executed via dynamic brush strokes and into the canvas.
Spending a large portion of my adult life as a musician, music teacher and, most importantly, as a mother of my wonderful son and daughter, I have had a relatively short career as a visual artist. However, in that time, I've been successful at establishing a presence as an artist in New York City, the center of the contemporary art world where I live, exhibiting my art in solo and group shows in galleries and locals around the city, as well as art fairs, and online; I've sold my art to private collectors, corporations, and interior designers, through galleries and directly from my studio, on and offline to collectors all over the world.
As my artistic vision continues to grow and develop, my output expands, and the value of my artwork continues to grow with years to come. When you are buying my art, not only are you enriching your life with beauty and uniqueness, but you are also investing for the future.
My goal is to enhance and enrich your life with my art; your satisfaction and enjoyment in my art is my pleasure and inspiration. You can read more information in individual listings as well as in my 'policies' page which can be found on the left. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at any time, I will gladly respond and answer all your concerns.
Buy with confidence! I've been selling online and on Etsy for years, you can see feedback and sales I made previously in my Etsy shop. I am offering payment plans for purchasing my art, as well as an 'Art Subscription' which is a plan of monthly payments in return for a regular supply of original art. I also offer an option for payment through escrow for larger purchases of artwork. Please contact me directly if you're interested in more info about these options.
Send me a message to join my mailing list where I will update you with special shop coupons and events.

*Canvas Stretching Options:
Have the canvas stretched at a local frame shop, or if you prefer you can stretch it over stretcher bars using a heavy duty stapler or hammer and nails. Read simple instructions on this site:
http://studiochalkboard.evansville.edu/p-canvas.html

Here is a YouTube tutorial and demonstration:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z1tbcpJnKs

*Stretching Tips: if after you stretched the canvas it still seems to be not tight enough or there are pleats on the surface, you can spray the back of the painting with water from a spray bottle. The canvas will shrink a bit as it dries, allowing for a tighter stretch.
Stretcher bars can be purchased at any art supply store, or ordered online. Please email me if you need more info. You can also stretch a canvas over a board (wooden or foam) which can be purchased in a hardware or craft supply store. Alternately, you can hang the painting as it is on the wall using some nails, for a contemporary look.

There are about 2-3 inches of raw canvas all around the painting. You can also attach a curtain rod or a strong rope from side to side (tie it to nails) on the wall, and hang the canvas on it, by either sewing or stapling a hem. You can repeat this on the bottom or on all four sides. Please feel free to message me if you like to hang the canvas this way on the wall, or if you want to brainstorm the best way of displaying it.

Alternately, your local frame shop can stretch the painting for you.
