I had been looking out for a work of art that was beautiful, unique, well made, and versatile enough to look stunning in any space. Not an easy task, might I add. From the moment I saw this beautiful 3-panel painting at a local art show, I knew it was something special that I would treasure for a lifetime. This painting is a beautiful reminder of many things I love, and has received a compliment by every person who has come into my room (not exaggerating at all, I kept track). Chantel is hands-down the most talented artist I have had the privilege to come across, and also an incredibly sweet and intelligent person. I have no doubt I will purchase more from her in the future!

I went through a pretty expansive Etsy search for a painting to decorate a small writing studio ... while narrowing down the candidates, my attention was constantly drawn to the beauty of this majestic lion. This artwork was to serve as a reminder of post-work rewards and a source of inspiration. Instead, hanging on the wall, I often find myself lost in the playful mane or penetrating eyes. (Hopefully I get over this admiration phase soon, because work needs to get done!) Thank you for sharing your talent, Keiko. I'll proudly support any endeavor you choose to pursue!

About

There's a bigger picture.

To me, there is nothing like creating. When I have a paintbrush in my hand, I feel the possibilities are endless. A mystical creature, another world, a face to face stare down with wildlife--wondrous views we could never have in everyday life. And with one fell swoop of the hand, our visions can become reality.

Life. Let’s talk about it. It’s all around us, yet we demolish it. I’m talking about nature. The environment. Other animals, reptiles, sea creatures, even plant life--if we’re not careful, they won’t be with us for much longer. Chances are, we won’t be here either. In the Silicon Valley, we’re so often distant from, quite simply, nature itself, that we don’t see the consequences on our environment from our everyday choices and culture.

I want to provide a closer look (literally) at wildlife, and enhance our feeling of connectedness.
Looking into the face of wildlife strikes an instinctual cord inside me. I feel a mix of emotions starting at shock, to uncertainty. Then to fear, to admiration. But the feeling always ends in awe.

I love the power in the eyes of these creatures. Are they watching over us, or are we watching over them? In these portraits, there’s a sense of calm, a mutual understanding. These portraits of potential predators are watching humanity.

I hope humanity doesn’t get too out of touch with nature. I hope future generations still have mountains covered in redwood forest to backpack through. I hope the air is just as fresh. And that the ocean is even cleaner!

Here’s to hope for a better future for our planet and all the lives on it.
