Journals that become Prized Possessions
My creative journey began when I created a card to give to my sisters and nieces for Mother's Day. They were surprised that I made the cards and encouraged me to make cards for other occasions. Although hesitant at first, I sold blank cards on consignment, at small craft shows, and to my family and friends. I even opened an Etsy shop although not very successful. I sold a few cards on Etsy and consignment. My biggest success was my Christmas cards. Since Christmas comes once a year, I needed to increase my product line.
One of my daughters has journaled everyday for years and has a collection of used journals. A light bulb went off for me! Why not make journals.
The first books I made were text blocks covered with handmade paper, but I wanted to make something that would have a longer life. I love the smell and feel of leather so thought leather would be perfect. I use reclaimed leather and the very best paper made using wind power for each journal.
My journals are made to inspire us to keep the art of writing alive. I know that nothing is more special than capturing your thoughts, feeling, and adventures on paper and years later revisiting those words.
My journals reflect the way I live, a love of all things simple and with clean lines and design. I think of my journals as prized possessions because of the special thoughts captured by the people who purchase and use them.
My business is located in Charlotte, North Carolina where you can usually find me working at the dining room table.
Owner, Maker, Designer
My journey started in the cultural steamy city of New Orleans where I grew up , to the rainy, gray days of Seattle and finally, settling among the beautiful trees of North Carolina where I create amazing leather journals.
