Welcome to my shop!

I'm a handcrafter in the American Midwest. I've been a lover of Japanese culture for years, and their beautiful folding fans have always interested and inspired me. So, too, has the idea of blending Eastern and Western styles of art been inspiring. And thus, what we have here: folding fans, in the Japanese style, decorated with diverse artwork from many regions, eras, and fandoms.

Creating things that are both beautiful, and functional, is very important to me. It's my belief that one of humanity's highest callings is to create. And so, here I am, making beautiful fans just for you!

Feel free to check me out elsewhere on the web at my deviantART page (http://faetroubadour.deviantart.com/) or my blog (http://faetroubadour.wordpress.com/).

Payment
PAYPAL
If you want to pay with a credit or debit card, choose the PayPal option in checkout. PayPal is a third party credit card processor that keeps all of your transaction information secure. You don't need your own PayPal account to use the service. It's probably the easiest way to pay, but I also accept...

PERSONAL CHECKS
Personal checks should be made out to "Jared Schmitz." Please note that I won't ship items until payment is received, so this will be slower than using PayPal.

CASH
I do accept cash (mail it to the same address as personal checks), but please, only US dollars!
Shipping
I ship via UPS, usually within 48 hours of the order's being placed (orders placed on weekends/holidays or commissions will often take a little longer). Shipping costs are approximated and include the actual cost of shipping plus a small amount to cover the cost of shipping supplies and materials.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS
All of my items can be shipped internationally. The shipping price will vary based on destination. Notify me via email, and I'll determine the price. I don't pay any duties, customs fees, or any other associated fees. These are the responsibility of the buyer, if their country charges these types of fees. Please be aware of customs information including any fees that may be incurred on your end before purchasing. This information can be found at your local post office or on the web. Each country varies.
Refunds and Exchanges
If your purchase is damaged, notify me by email--and include pictures of the damage--and I will refund your purchase price and original shipping fee. Alternatively, you can ship it back to me and I'll repair it for no additional charge.

If, for some reason, I cannot complete a commission, the full price will be refunded. Also, I will refund half the price of late commissions.
Additional policies and FAQs
COMMISSIONS
I offer commissioned fans of various sizes. If you wish to request a commission, make sure that you have the particulars ready: size, subject matter for the fan paper, colors, etc. Price of commissions varies, and is based on the size of the piece and the complexity of any designs that I have to paint. Time of completion varies based on the same things (no more than two weeks; typically a few days). When you request a commission, I'll give you an estimate of the time and cost of the project. I will do my best to complete commissions within my estimate, but please remember that things don't always go as planned.

GUIDELINES
I can paint or draw any number of things on your fan, but I WON'T do anything of a crude or pornographic nature. Characters from movies/manga/books/anime are okay. So are landscapes or other scenes. Be creative and don't hesitate to work with me on creating the perfect fan for you!

I'll start working on the commission as soon as payment is received, and do my best to finish it as quickly as possible. Commissions will generally range from $15 to $40--it depends on the time it will take me and the cost of any materials I might have to buy. Prices may vary, however. Please be ready with reference pictures and descriptions of your desired artwork when you contact me.

RIGHTS
Here are the basic rights for commissions:
-You may not use my artwork commercially
-You may not sell or copy my artwork without permission
-You may not claim that anyone other than me created the artwork
-You may give away commissioned artwork as a gift

If you have any questions, feel free to email me or send me a convo.

WHAT YOU GET
A lovely fan, just for you! Every fan I make is completely unique, and no one else will ever have one quite like it. These make excellent costume pieces, gifts, or decorations, and they're functional, too! Perfect for hot days and sunny weather.
