Yarns made in USA by Artisans.

After spending many years working with silk threads for the cross stitch industry, we decided it was time to move into a crafting area that gave us more flexibility to travel. While we were building our own custom machines for the cross stitch business we accidently discovered a way to make unique yarns. We used our knowledge of finding specialty fibers to create interesting new yarns. After playing with the process for awhile we decided to focus on yarns created with a silk component.
Naming the yarns came easy. After being given the moniker "SilkyB" at a comedy show, calling our silk yarns "SilkyB" just seemed natural. We now have a few variations of the SilkyB yarns, but if they are called "SilkyB" they absolutely have silk in them.
We manufacture and dye all the yarns in a small textile factory in the mountains of Pennsylvania. The factory is 105 years old and has always been a textile factory. After being shuttered since the mid 1990's we rescued it from certain ruination and now enjoy producing our unique "SilkyB" yarns here. Every day is like a dream come true when we open the door and turn on the lights and see the beautiful art yarns we are making.
We are proud to say "Made in the USA" on each yarn label.
So come into our Etsy Shop and peruse our goods and if you see us at a show stop by and say hello we are happy to chat with you.
    Thanks, SilkyBob.

I create yarns on a machine I invented. It holds several strands of yarn in parallel and wraps them together with a fine silk. Because they're not twisted or plied I can mix various fiber contents and colors together without worry. It gives the piece a look that can't be duplicated by hand dyeing and is much easier than holding and tensioning several strands together in your fingers.
I show at many yarn shows, and you can see us at those along with the machine in action.

    Returns and exchanges
No refunds or returns. I have a sample booklet you can purchase if you haven't seen my yarns before. These booklets have a sample of SilkyB and SilkyB with sparkle and are not color samples but are samples for you to see what type of yarn SilkyB is.

All SilkyB yarns are several strands of a thread weight or fine yarns, and each of those strands are 100% silk and/or 70/30 silk cashmere and/or 80/20 silk/cotton. Because the percentage of silk is so high in each thread, you can use any fingering weight silk pattern without regard to the very small amounts of cashmere and/or cotton in the yarn.
SilkyB with sparkle adds a strand of a metallic type yarn, either mylar or nylon.
SilkyB with Cashmere adds a strand of a cashmere or 95/15 cashmere/silk blend and may have fewer strands of silk.
In the write up of the yarn that will be specifically detailed along with the weight and yardage.
Lastly if I ever make any SilkyB with Cashmere and Sparkle it will have the above detailed sparkle, and cashmere strand in it.
I accept credit cards via Paypal and Etsy and collect tax on sales of non-yarn items made to residents of PA. While I usually ship same business day I travel extensively and sometimes take the extra day.
No cancellations allowed after I've shipped.
I ship in 1 - 2 business days, USPS via first class or priority mail with delivery confirmation.
At this point because of the weight of yarn, I'm not doing international shipping as a standard but may consider a special request.

I can discuss custom orders and am working toward custom silk yarn creation. Stay tuned!
