Announcement    My passion for art was ignited in the 1970s when I attended Architectural School at the University of Miami in Florida. It was there that I took several art classes with art students to obtain my degree in architecture. Here is where my appreciation for art began to develop as I worked along the artists and was exposed to the techniques that artists use in their artworks. It is here that I bought my first paintings. I went on later to buy sculptural works from art students at Western Kentucky University and paintings from local artists in Bowling Green, Kentucky and to create my own. I have purchased other works of art in my travels around the U.S. and the world. I appreciate all art forms. I have owned original comic book art. I a great deal of illustrator art in the form of advertising works on paper. I especially love movie poster art work on the advertising posters for movies, videos, TV, etc..

Works of Art
Many of the advertising materials produced for motion pictures are truly "works of art." In fact, many studios contract with well-known artists to produce the artwork used in the advertising materials. Some of the better known artists of today are Amsel, Boris, Peak, Drew and Hildebrandt brothers. Even the legendary Norman Rockwell has lent his talents to movie art.
Framed and mounted, some movie posters will compete aesthetically with any legitimate piece of art. Many favorites come from the sci-fi and horror categories which feature outstanding and sometimes breathtaking graphic artwork. Many posters from little known hits are true collector's items just because of their beauty. In many cases, posters from better known movies cannot compete with those of the genre known as "B" movies. Of course, this is understandable since producers of some of the better known movies do not have to overcome public uncertainty when they boast celebrity stars. The lesser known movies depend entirely on their advertising materials to make or break the movie. In any case, movie art offers an alternative to mainstream artwork at prices that are much more in line with the average person's budget.

What is Movie Art?
Since posters and related movie art materials are used as advertising tools by major studios to lure prospective movie gowers to their particular films, they are designed specifically to get your attention and to promote the film in the greatest light. While the beauty and aesthetic value of posters vary from studio to studio, they all have one basic purpose – to promote box-office sales and to get you into their theatre.
Note: The movie posters and other advertising materials that are used by the theatres should not be confused with posters that can be purchased from stores or discount chains. The posters found in retail outlets are printed on a commercial basis in large numbers and generally should not be taken into consideration when discussing collectible movie art.

Not (Originally) for Public Sale
As an industry, advertising plays a key role in the movie-making business. There are literally hundreds of movies released each year, and the studios are vying for public interest in their particular projects. To assist the theaters in promoting the various releases, the movie studios produce and provide materials that are designed by their advertising departments to assist theaters in putting on a successful movie campaign. These materials are not released to the public. As such, they are printed in limited numbers --- only enough to accommodate the local theaters. They are strictly advertising materials – meant to be discarded after the movie's run.
Of all the reasons why people collect movie art, none seems to compare to the basic instinct in all of us that we would like to have something that most other people will never have. Because of the limited numbers produced; because of the number of them destroyed, either intentionally or through age; because they are not meant for public sale; and because they can only be acquired though limited avenues, movie art offers rarity in a world of mass production.

NOTE: For clarification purposes, we are addressing legitimate theater advertising materials and not commercially produced posters and the like.

Movie theater owners were given several items for display to attract people in to see the movies showing at their theater. 8x10, 11x14 lobby cards, black and white photos,14x36 inserts, 22x28 half sheets, one sheet posters originally 27x41 and currently 27x40, 30x40, 30x60,41x81, etc. The decision as to what would be purchased to promote the movie would be made by the manager, owner, regional manager of a chain of theaters, etc.

I opened my shop on etsy on July 23, 2011 and I published my own web site ArtisticSoulStudio.com a year later. On November 4, 2011, I opened a brick and mortar
shop at 1014 East 11th Avenue in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

All movie posters on this site are the original release posters as noted in the descriptions. All National Service Screen (NSS) numbers and any other information is on these posters. These posters were printed for the National Screen Service under contract by their printer to be displayed as advertisement. These are not reprints, reissue, or cheap reproductions NO REPRODUCTIONS). Movie poster collecting is not a new fad or phenomenon that just happened since ebay came into existence. I bought my first movie posters at the Knoxville Western Film Festival in 1990. I was hooked! I then started buying through mail order catalogues and magazines in the 1990s. I attended film festivals, traveled to Los Angeles, California to a Ray Courts Autograph show at the Beverly Garland Hotel, and to Calgary, Canada to a movie poster exchange to get more posters. I am now trying to liquidate my entire collection through etsy, my own web site, and other sources. All autographed items were obtained directly by me from the movie or TV stars that attended these events. There is also a large selection of antique paper items and other collectible memorabilia that I have acquired over the last fifty years. These items for sale comes from my retail store's inventory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I will be adding more items to this site as time permits. In the future , I plan on adding my own watercolor drawings, digital art creations and movie related clothing line to this site.
