Agency Refugee

In 2007 I quit my cushy job in the marketing/design world to be my own boss and follow my passion for art, illustration and storytelling. Now I draw things for money and my boss is awesome. Welcome to The Art of Warlick.

Hi there, I’m Matthew Warlick, North Texas based illustrator, art director and designer. I was born on a balmy 113° day, the hottest ever recorded in the DFW Metroplex. Raised in the wilds of North Texas, I subsisted mostly on Totinos frozen pizzas, Nick at Night reruns and comic books

In 2007 I quit my job in the marketing world to be my own boss and follow my passion for art, design and storytelling and The Art of Warlick was born. Now I draw and design things for amazing clients and my boss is awesome.

My artwork has appeared in books From Red 5 Comics, Image Comics , Digital Webbing, The Marvel Masterpiece Trading Card Series and the forthcoming Topps’ Star Wars The Force Awakens sketch card series.

Before going solo I worked for some of Dallas’ premiere agencies and design shops, most notably game development shop Soap Creative (formerly Blockdot) and Omnicon digital megalith Tribal DDB , where I cut my teeth on all things design, digital and illustrative.

When I’m not at the drawing board you can find me doing yoga, hanging with my rescue Lab Isis & ornery feline Jasper, and generally contemplating the vastness and awe of the universe.

I saw a UFO once, but that’s a story to be told in person.
