Announcement   Hi! Welcome to ArtWeekend (formerly Mogwai), a fun mix of stuff I've made and things you can use for the stuff you make! I've had to take a break to focus on my vintage shop and offline life, but have high hopes of creating a whole line of my upcycled hand cut storybook collages in the future, primarily working with Dr. Seuss and Maurice Sendak classics. I've also got a ton of craft supplies I think it's time I part with, so you'll also find those here as time permits.

* FYI - I am NOT currently taking custom order requests at this time. I apologize, but I just have too much going on in my life right now to make any commitments that require as much time as the more complex pieces I've made actually take. I will update again once I'm able to start taking custom orders again! :)

Please take a minute to look at my shop policies page, where you'll find more detailed information regarding shipping, printing, custom orders, etc. http://www.etsy.com/shop/ArtWeekend/policy

I also operate a separate shop for vintage: http://VintageOrphanage.etsy.com

I can combine shipping on MOST items from either of my two shops. If you're interested in combined shipping on any items from either of my shops, contact me stating which items & the zip code or country they'd be mailed to, so I can calculate accurately to your exact destination. Thanks! :)

About

ArtWeekend (formerly Mogwai) :

ArtWeekend.etsy.com is a fun mix of stuff I've made and things you can use for the stuff you make!

Storybook Adaptations:
These came about originally because I was looking for some fun, inexpensive wall art to fill my empty walls. Dr. Seuss has always been a favorite of mine, and I thought that framing up some of the pages might be fun. I had already started collecting unusual picture frames, and they were perfect to add a little extra whimsy to the pictures. I was enjoying matching pictures to frames so much, I got a little carried away. What used to be just framing the book pages as they were has progressed into a much more time consuming, but very different end result. Basically, I'm taking a multi-page book and flattening it out into a unique piece of wall art. Many of my collages actually include pieces taken from multiple books (of the same title or of different titles) to create the finished collage.

When I make these collages, I don't usually give them actual titles. I call them all "Dr. Seuss Adaptation" (or the author's/artist's last name) because that's what they are - my adaptations of his work. He does the original drawing; I decide how to break the drawings apart and essentially create a single-page story/scene from a full book. While they are someone else's drawings, I feel what I do is still my own art, because everything is meticulously hand cut by me using an X-acto knife and re-pieced into what is often a totally different scene. What I do is kind of like structured collage work. It often tells a story in a different way than the original book told it, without actually changing the words.

Since 2007, my handmade items for sale here at ArtWeekend (formerly named Mogwai) have ranged from novelty jewelry to graphic design & photography pieces to my more recent upcycled framed art & storybook collages. From time to time, I'll also offer you fair prices on crafting supplies from my own stash. I used to sell vintage here too, but have since opened a separate Etsy shop called "Vintage Orphanage" for all things at least 20 years old: http://VintageOrphanage.etsy.com

I'm hoping to bring a full line of my upcycled hand cut storybook collages to this shop in the future, specifically working with Dr. Seuss and Maurice Sendak classics rescued from the "last chance" shelves at thrift stores. (You'd be shocked to learn how many things most thrift stores actually throw out into landfills. It's disgusting and sad. Yay for upcycling!)

Payment
I'm currently accepting PayPal OR Etsy's Direct Checkout for credit/debit cards.

Upon special request, I may consider accepting POSTAL money orders only. These are money orders issued by the U.S. Postal Service. I will no longer accept money orders written from banks, because they have become easier to forge and harder to cash.

I apologize for any inconvenience, but due to previous experiences, I will not accept requests to pay by other methods, including checks, bank money orders, or cash.
Shipping
*** Your Shipping Address ***

Please make sure your address listed at PayPal matches what Etsy has on file. Please mention any necessary remarks in the "notes to seller" section in check out or contact me through Etsy if needed.

*** HOW I SHIP ***

Nearly everything will be shipped by the United States Postal Service. If I'm using a different carrier, I'll post that in the listing. I now factor my U.S. shipping based on USPS website quotes for package weight from my zip code to a California zip code. I will continue to refund overcharges of more than $1, or convo me with your zip code BEFORE buying and I'll update the listing for you.

* International shipping:
International shipping is nearly always available, but there are some items that I may not be able to ship outside of the U.S. for various reasons. If I cannot ship a specific item outside the U.S., that information will be stated within the specific listing. If international shipping is available, but your country is not listed in the shipping options, please contact me with your country name, and I’ll be happy to provide you a price quote.

* Combined shipping:
I do combine shipping on most items in either of my two Etsy shops, but varied weights makes it hard to provide an accurate combined shipping amount in the shipping section of each listing.
For example, a large object coupled with a thin paper object won't be much extra, if anything at all. But two paper objects together could add enough weight together to jump to a higher postal rate.

Feel free to convo me with any questions regarding combined shipping, international shipping, or anything else.
You can contact me using this link:
http://www.etsy.com/convo_new.php?to_username=ArtWeekend

* Optional services:
For this shop only, mailed packages are NOT insured, unless noted in the listing. If you would like to purchase insurance, please contact me before checking out. I'll be glad to update the shipping total to reflect the cost of insurance added in.

The same goes for delivery confirmation... It's an option available to you, but it's not currently included in the shipping costs on items within this shop, unless specified in the listing. Please contact me before buying, and I’ll update the shipping total with delivery confirmation added.

* Other potential charges:
I reuse clean, odorless mailing supplies as much as possible, but may sometimes need to purchase new boxes/mailers/supplies for protecting items in the mail. When applicable, the amount I pay for these items will also be factored into the shipping total quoted.

Rest assured that I'm not out to rip you off in shipping charges… If the shipping cost (including supplies, etc) I charge you versus what I end up paying is off by $2 or more, I DO refund you the difference. And if I've undercharged you and it actually costs me more to mail to your address than quoted, I don't ask you to pay anything additional. You just get a deal! :)

*** WHEN I SHIP ***

I can generally ship within 24 hours of receiving a cleared payment. Obvious exceptions include Sundays and holidays or if I'm out of town at the time your order is placed. Sometimes work might prevent me from getting to the post office when I'd like to. I apologize in advance for that. As I said, I can USUALLY swing same or next-day shipping, I just can't guarantee it.

I'll always let you know if there will be delays past 24 hours. I'll always let you know WHEN your package has been shipped. And many buyers have found that if I'm unable to ship within 48 hours, I'll often throw in a little something extra. (Though this isn't a guarantee...just something nice I like to do when I can.)
Refunds and Exchanges
Sorry, I do not accept returns/exchanges at this time.

Damaged/lost packages do happen from time to time, and of course this is out of my hands once I release a package to the post office for delivery. I strongly encourage the purchase of both insurance and delivery confirmation! I've been on both ends of lost packages, and I know how disappointing this can be. Each situation will be handled individually. Should your purchase be lost in shipment, please CONTACT ME before leaving any kind of feedback or contacting Etsy directly. 9 out of 10 times, "lost" packages show up eventually, and may just have required extra handling time for one reason or another. However, I'm reasonable and do know when a customer deserves a full or partial refund. :) Please see my shipping information above for details on insurance and delivery confirmation.
Additional policies and FAQs
Some products featuring my photography or graphic designs have been produced with the aid of a third-party printer. I wish I had the ability to produce all of these items myself at home, but unfortunately I don't at this time. Every item in my shop is presently in my possession. I do not drop-ship for standard listings. If you're interested in a custom listing, such as a t-shirt in a size or style other than I already have listed, that would require me to put in a special order to the printer, so processing and shipping would obviously take longer. But I always have the listed item HERE before creating the listing.

*** Custom Orders ***

If you're interested in something you see in my previously sold items, there's a chance I might still be able to make you something similar to it. Depending on what it is, of course. Obviously the vintage items I've previously sold here cannot be reproduced. :)

I'm hoping to bring a full line of my upcycled hand cut storybook collages in the future, specifically working with Dr. Seuss and Maurice Sendak classics collected from the "last chance" shelves at thrift stores. (You'd be shocked if you learned how many things most thrift stores actually throw out into landfills. It's disgusting and sad.) I have a variety of titles on hand and suitable frames in various sizes. If you have a title/theme you'd like, I will probably be able to accommodate!

(I should note, though, that I often only have ONE of a particular style of frame, or I may not be able to get the exact same style of background paper I used, etc. So I may not be able to 100% duplicate completed works. I also like to try to make each one a little different, even if it has the same theme as a previously sold piece. So while I can make you something based on a sold Storybook Adaptation item, I like to try to keep them one-of-a-kind pieces.)

Much of my previously sold photography can be produced in other sizes as well as on a variety of types of products. Magnets, pin back buttons, and cards are just the beginning! If you're interested in something specific, let me know! We can probably work something out.
