I have this intrinsic desire to make things with my hands.
When I first started making work, it began with collages. I realized I could sort of puzzle piece together all of these ideas from my brain and into something mysterious, thoughtful, and even beautiful.
I then got into experimental and abstract art, which I always return to as a good exercise, because there is so much freedom in it for new ideas.
As of lately, I've been working on these colorful watercolor paintings. They are characters drawn out of memory, literally, all drawn with my eyes closed in true blind contour drawing style. There is something very satisfying about closing your eyes and letting your memory take over...plus they are just super fun to paint!
My inspiration comes from a lot of things - nature, people, animals, food, a really good poem, whatever draws me in on a given day.
Hope you find something you like,
Jessie
