Announcement    Hello Folks!

I hope you find my shop to be a great place for lovely handmade ceramics for either yourself, or as a lovely, original, handmade gift. Come in, look around, and always feel free to message me with any questions or requests!

+++CUSTOM WORK/TIMELINES++++

I am so happy to continue providing work for you all! With our new addition to our family, I am currently stepping back from most custom orders. I will still be making work for all you lovely folks, but these pieces will be released in monthly shop updates, and will all be listed as first come, first serve, ready to ship.

Most custom orders are currently closed. There is a small amount of custom work available for order with a 2-3 month work time. You are welcome to make custom requested, but I have greatly reduced these to focus on making my best original works, while balancing my family and students as well.

"Ready to ship" work will still be available in 5-7 business days & will be updated as regularly as possible. Not all ready to ship items are immediately listed, so if you're looking for a piece, but don't want to wait, don't hesitate to ask!

Please be mindful of all shipping timelines provided by your selected shipping carrier! Shipping timelines are anticipated to be significantly longer across all carriers.

THANK YOU ALL again for all the love and support!!!!!!!!!

Making a Life out of a Love to get Muddy!

Looking back, its fun see how childhood passions begin to shape our futures. I loved being outside as a kid, I loved getting dirty, experimenting, combining all sorts of mediums. I loved drawing, painting, making, with both traditional (paint, pencils, fabrics) and unconventional, (mud, sticks, grass, etc). I loved to sit with my grandmas and aunts and learn their knowledge of textiles. I loved to touch everything at the stores, take everything in.

I had never touched clay until college, and boy, what did I get myself in to!?! It's pretty much been a love story since. I have always loved making and creating, and I have finally found a home in which to do it. I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2012, with a Bachelor's of Art degree in Ceramics, with understudy in Art Education. I worked as a professional art framer for 2 & 1/2 years while keeping my passion of creating as work on the side, until the summer of 2015, when I took the plunge into full time artist and stay at home mom. It has been an exciting and fulfilling experience that I intend to continue for years to come.

Now I spend my time getting muddy, making art, playing with my kids, and living life. For me, I want my art to be a reflection of the beauty around us every day, that everyone can enjoy. I work out of a home studio, where I do my wheel throwing, handbuilding, and run both our electric and gas kilns with my husband. We have also started a project sourcing local clay from my parents home in rural Osakis, MN, and do our pit firing out there as well.

Hello!

Thanks for visiting my Etsy shop, and taking time to check out my work!

I feel pottery encourages us to take time to slow down and appreciate that beauty in life is often found and made in every day life.

Much of my inspiration comes from the softer things in life: vintage fabric, prints, and dishes, flowers, cakes, ribbons, and weddings. In contrast, nature also gives me cues, allowing me to visit more natural, rustic forms and colors with my work.

I enjoy making both functional and non-functional pottery. All functional pieces are food safe, unless otherwise noted. However, it is still handmade work, and should be treated with kindness in its care and use!

I love custom orders and working on new ideas! Feel free to message me if you're not seeing exactly what you're looking for, and I will see where your vision may fit in with mine!

General shipping policies follow below:

I will ship to your etsy address. If you want me to ship to a different address, please notify me in "message to seller."

"Ready to ship" items will ship within 5-7 business days, after receiving payment. Please respect that Saturday and Sunday are not business days.

"Made to order" and Custom items will take 8-14 weeks. I will message you with an estimate based on current work flow at time of purchase.

If you need an item by a specific date, please let me know in "message to seller", and I will do my best to meet your needs!

All pottery is packed with care and it is very important to me that your order arrives quickly and safely.

If the piece is a gift being shipped directly to the recipient, let me know, and I will gift package it for you, with your return address info if preferred.

Orders are typically shipped using UPS or USPS. If you have a preferred shipping method, please let me know.

Tracking/delivery confirmation is used whenever available

I try to estimate shipping as reasonably as possible, any overage in shipping charges will be reimbursed!

I do usually attach a $2.00 handling fee to help with the cost of packing materials, boxes, etc, which in person orders would not incur. Anything past that would be happily repaid.
Additional policies and FAQs
-Colors:

Product colors may vary slightly from what you're seeing on screen. I try to take natural light photos that I feel best represent the piece. Custom work will vary slightly from photos and piece to piece. Each one is still handmade with as much care and attention to detail as the original photo. There are many processing variables between raw clay to final firing that can effect this, but I try my best to minimize them.

-Treating Your Pots Nicely:

My work is handmade, not production dining ware. It will chip or break banging against each other in the sink/cupboard/dishwasher. Small nooks & crannies need to be cleaned by hand with a dish brush.

PLEASE use a coaster with cups if you have a very nice table (or your friend does). Earthenware cups can leave rings because they're naturally more porous, and even fully glazed/vitrified high fire clays can sweat in the proper conditions, just like store bought mugs or glassware. If you're worried about furniture damage or haven't used the cup before, please use protection : )

Most of my handmade pottery is not meant for stove top, or open flame, unless specifically noted as safe for that.

The oven is tricky business. You need to put your casserole/pie plate/serving dishes into the oven while it's cold, with its contents cold, to avoid thermal shock and cracking.

-A word about the microwave...
There are many schools of thought on microwaving handmade pottery.

My philosophy is as follows:

Yes, microwaves cause wear on pots over time. They don't heat evenly, so it causes stress on the pots. That being said, functional pottery is meant to be functional, not last forever. Most of us use the microwave. I have many pieces from 10+ years ago that have been microwaved at least weekly, if not daily...and there have been very few causalities.

Non functional work should not be microwaved...
