I had never heard of hurricane beads before purchasing these. The striped color is very pretty.

About

It's time to share

Shop owner Deb Brilla and handler-of-everything-behind-the-scenes Janet McCaffrey met as art school students more years ago than they like to admit. They were roommates at Keystone College and Kutztown University and have been friends ever since.

Deb became a jewelry designer and opened her own business, Wanna Buy a Watch?, in 1989. She's been acquiring beads and jewelry making supplies for more than 25 years and the things we're selling are all from her personal collection. Most were used in her own work; some were purchased and never used. She has an amazing collection of vintage things including dead stock from the Elgin Watch Co. that closed in 1968 after 104 years in operation.

Janet became a graphic designer and magazine art director before going freelance in 2004 (she designed the Wanna Buy a Watch? website). That same year she opened Primrose Design, creating handcrafted, one-of-a-kind products from recycled vintage textiles. You may purchase some of these, along with vintage needlework and sewing supplies, at www.etsy.com/shop/primrose. In 2015 she opened a second Etsy shop to focus solely on vintage and collectible buttons; visit www.etsy.com/shop/PrimroseButtons

With Deb's amazing products and Janet's prior Etsy experience, we've started this venture to share some truly unique offerings with you. We have, literally, thousands of beads and jewelry supplies so be patient as we get them listed. And, if you don't see exactly what you're looking for, please ask. We may have it and can create a listing for you.

Frequently asked questions

Can I purchase a different quantity that you have listed?

We'll be happy to put together a larger quantity for you if we have more available (see the individual listing for more info). For smaller quantities we will not break strands of beads or pearls but, in most cases, can make up a smaller quantity of loose beads, cabochons, or watch parts. Please convo with your request.

Will I be able to purchase more of something at a later date?

We're primarily a destash shop rather than a reseller so probably not. We won't be ordering more and likely won't be able to find more of the rare vintage items (although we do have very large quantities of some watch parts). So, if you see something you like, please grab it; it may not be available next time you visit.

I need my item faster; can you upgrade shipping?

United States: You have the option of choosing Priority Mail during checkout and your package should arrive within 2-3 days. However, the USPS does not guarantee this so please plan accordingly.

Everywhere Else: Shipping costs for the Priority Mail International Flat-Rate Box (6-10 days) vary widely depending on your location (some examples—Canada $23.70, Australia $33.20, Japan $30.35, EU countries $32.25). Please convo before ordering for accurate costs and we'll update the listing for you.

How can I contact you about my order?

Etsy has a conversation option where you can ask questions and where I will contact you if there's a problem with your order. Please make sure that you have a current email address on file with Etsy so you will receive notifications that you've received a convo from me. Or, when you sign in to your Etsy account, you'll see a flag on the top right sidebar that alerts you to current unread messages.
