About

Pretty Little Lights

My name is Angela and Astatula Candle Co. is a humble operation run out of my tiny kitchen in the heart of Old Seminole Heights, Tampa, FL. I make small batch artisanal candles with luxurious fragrances and essential oils. Each scent is carefully and thoughtfully selected and tested.

I am quite the enthusiast for local history and family roots and the name Astatula fits right in line with that passion. I grew up hearing about different places in Florida that my family has lived and one place, the town of Astatula, always stuck in my head. I thought it was just one of the most beautiful names. Just that was enough for me to choose it for my business, but then some months later, I was researching deeper into my personal ancestry. Come to find out, not only was my Great-great Grandmother a long time home owner there, but her family had been one of the few pioneers to settle in that town around 1900 when it was just a mere railroad stop. So Astatula is more than just a beautiful name for me, it's a connection to my family and roots. What better way to keep the past and present alive than with making things with our hands and old traditions.

From my hands and space to yours, with love.
