A Stitch In Lives // Supporting Labors of Love at Home and Abroad

Since learning to sew at age 8, a Stitch In Lives owner and operator, Kaitlin Wachter, has enjoyed handcrafting birthday and Christmas gifts for her friends and family. She has created everything from intricate costumes to handbags to home furnishings. During the summer of 2012 Kaitlin was looking for a way to support causes dear to her heart. And thus A Stitch In Lives was born as way for Kaitlin to use her passion for sewing and creating to support various causes and charities.

50% of profits from the sale of marked items are donated to a labor of love in our community and throughout the world. We are confident in the work we are doing and are thrilled to see A Stitch In Lives changing lives worldwide.

THE HENRY OWL STORY >>
In 2012 Kaitlin designed an owl for her yet-to-be-born baby brother, nicknamed “Henry”. A friend saw the owl and loved it so much she asked Kaitlin to create another owl for a friend adopting a son from China. Shortly after, the owls were added to A Stitch In Lives' inventory and the Henry Owl was born.

Henry was born on April 28, 2013. Within hours of his birth he was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Shortly after receiving his diagnosis Kaitlin decided to donated 50% of the proceeds from Henry Owl sales to support Down Syndrome Awareness.

During a promotion from September 1 to December 3, 2013 over 140 Henry Owls were sold. A Stitch In Lives donated more than $800 to F.R.I.E.N.D.S., a Down Syndrome Advocacy group based in Frederick, Maryland. The Henry Owl continues to be A Stitch In Lives’ best selling product.

THE EVERYTHING ELLIE STORY>>
Ellie, Kaitlin's 8-year-old sister, loves to watch her big sister work, and learn all about the processes. When their family was moved to adopt, the only thing that stood in the way, were the funds necessary. Ellie hand-crafted a number of items and presented them to Kaitlin, requesting they be added to the A Stitch In Lives site. Her one-of-a-kind items reflect the quality our customers have come to expect; we are proud to have her join the cause. 100% of Ellie's net profits will go to funding our family's adoptive pursuits. Please welcome Everything Ellie!
