Great earrings from vintage buttons. I'm wearing them for my wedding!
A Journey of Jewelry-Making
My Mom is really the one to blame. She got me into the whole beading thing in the first place, after she brought me to a little bead shop in Loveland, CO and showed me all the basics. After that, I was intrigued, but I didn't really begin making my own jewelry hardcore until after I got a job for a fine jewelry company in Austin, TX: Anthony Nak. Together with a score of other jewelry-monkeys, we created gorgeous necklaces and earrings out of chain, wire, and semi-precious stones, which were worn by celebrities and far too expensive for any of us to afford.
Eventually I branched out on my own, trying out less expensive materials but employing many of the same techniques. Anthony Nak also gave me inexhaustible patience when it came to wire-wrapping lots and lots of little beads, and now I can sit for hours on end and crank out pieces (although it helps to watch cheezy Lifetime movies, which don't require that one pay much attention to the plot)!
Later, I got a job at a bead store in Austin, where I learned new techniques from many of my talented co-workers. I tried my hand at chainmail, beadweaving, and more, as whole new realms of jewelry-making were opened up to me. I can never decide which I love best!

This Etsy shop is largely a means of supporting my bead habit!
All of the items in my shop are handmade by me--excluding, of course, generic findings such as clasps, ear-wires, etc (although sometimes I make those, too!). I've been making jewelry for about 10 years now, and show no signs of stopping--this online store is pretty much just a means to support my habit!
I'm happy to do custom work, or to modify existing pieces to suit your needs. I'm also happy to work out a trade--just contact me and we'll figure something out. Scroll down to "Additional Policies and FAQs" to read more about my policies on custom orders and trades. Thanks!
Accepted payment methods
- Accepts Etsy gift cards
- Other Method
I'm also open to trades, so message me if you see something you like and maybe we can employ ye old bartering system!
If you want insurance, tracking, or expedited shipping, just let me know and I can make arrangements. Shipping outside the U.S. usually seems to take about 7-10 business days, I've noticed. If you happen to be local to Austin, TX, I'm willing to make arrangements for a pick-up (and refund the shipping cost).
Refunds and Exchanges
Many of my pieces are intricate and delicately-made, so there may be some wear and tear over time. I advise that you store your pieces in a sealed plastic bag (I ship them in their own bag)--this will help keep them from tarnishing/oxidizing, as well as getting tangled up with your other jewelry. If you bought a piece from me and it eventually breaks or otherwise needs repair, I'm happy to work something out; if it's an easy fix, I won't charge you, but if it's more involved, we'll work out an arrangement.
Additional policies and FAQs
I'm happy to do custom work; usually it's best if you pick out something in my shop that's similar to what you want, or find a photo online of what you have in mind, and send it to me along with your preferred color scheme, measurements, etc. I can then send you photos of beads and materials for approval, as well as a price and time estimate, before I start any work. Once you've approved those, I'm afraid I'll have to insist on payment up front (full or partial, depending on the complexity of the piece). I can create a listing for you, then send you progress pics and/or the finished photos.
I want to ensure that the finished piece is made to your satisfaction; if changes are necessary, above and beyond what was agreed upon, there may be additional cost involved, but that's on a case-by-case basis. Keep in mind that different materials/beads are going to result in a different look, and I'll try to be honest about that along the way. But the important thing is that you're happy with your piece, and I will do my best to achieve that!
I'm a big fan of ye olde bartering system, especially around the holidays! If you see something you like in my shop and want to work out a trade, just message me and we'll go from there. My shop is already set to receive "Other" payment, and once we've agreed upon a trade, it's best if you do the same (at least for that item) so we can leave feedback for one another.
There may be times where I'm tapped out on trading, or just don't need anything from your shop, so please don't take offense if I pass. I promise I will at least answer your inquiry in a timely fashion!
I'm lucky to live in Austin, one of the most vibrant, creative, and artistic cities I've ever been in! I love the idea of collaborating with other sellers on photo shoots; that is, get some models together, deck them out in jewelry and other accessories/clothing, and take cool photos that we can all use in our shops and to promote our work. I try to do photo shoots with friends of mine every few months or so; if you're in/near Austin and this idea appeals to you, hit me up and maybe we can work something out.
I also love the idea of doing mini trunk shows with other sellers, out of someone's house or at a local business. I'm happy to band together, pool our resources, and see how we can benefit one another. I believe in cooperation over competition, and if you feel similarly, let's talk and see what we can accomplish.
