I am delighted with my order. Astrid printed this cushion cover in a different colour way for me - and couldn't have been more helpful. Good communication throughout and I was very pleased to receive such a beautiful, well made item. Many thanks!
Hand Printed Fabrics and Homewares
I’ve had a long fascination with fabrics and surface pattern design ever since I was a little girl staring at my flowery curtains looking for the repeat pattern!
I love the process of hand printing my own fabrics and turning them into objects for the home which are not only attractive but have a practical use too.
I started with a couple of designs based on flowers growing in my garden which I used to make cushions and gradually I’ve added more products to this range, sticking to a monochrome palette and adding colour and interest with a variety of techniques. I sketch things out quite roughly to begin with until I’m happy with the idea ,sometimes drawing it to size to see if it works.; once I’m 100% satisfied I’ll prepare the artwork for making the screens and there’s no going back then. I’ve always loved mid 20th century design and bold graphic prints of that time like the work of Edward Bawden and early Marimekko designs and although I acknowledge this influence, I don’t slavishly want to copy the style. Living in the countryside means that nature is a recurring theme in my work but I love mixing that up with abstract, geometric elements for a contrast.
I really hope you enjoy taking a wander around my shop - you can also watch this short video of me doing my work which I hope you'll find interesting https://vimeo.com/71372081

Owner, Maker, Designer
Hi there! I live in the south west of Scotland with my husband, son and pet cat.
The Matryoshka Tea Towel/DIY Door stop was created from my original artwork and printed by Digetex - specialists in producing digital textile printing.
All fabrics are hand screen printed by me at my home in Scotland. Due to the nature of hand prints, there may be slight variations between prints; also as I add colour by hand no two will be exactly the same and there may vary slightly from the photograph you see in the shop.
I use water based inks onto light/medium weight cotton and prints are heat set. I recommend items to be dry cleaned or gently spot clean any marks; iron using a cotton setting.
