new designs from digital fabrication -- discreet furniture

I started discreet furniture as a sideline business for making custom furniture and fixtures for friends, using traditional metal and woodworking tools.

In the past year I've built an open source laser cutter (a "lasersaur") and I'm finishing a conversion of my milling machine to 4 axis CNC. These new tools have opened up a new world of digital fabrication in my personal studio, and I'm now designing things that I'd never try and make by hand.

My first products will be versions of tools and fixtures I've made for my personal use or for friends. If you see something you like but want a custom variation, let me know and I'll work out a reasonable price. If you want a variation I've already made for someone else, your cost will be even lower, I won't charge you a design fee for something I've already designed.

Discreet Furniture, doing business as atelier jet, is a small design and fabrication studio in Pittsburgh, PA

We like designing and making furniture, fittings, and gadgets that improve the world. One tool might make your job easier, another might make it more enjoyable, or maybe it just has aesthetic value that makes your shop or studio look a bit nicer.

All of our work is done in our studio using hand tools, the lathe, bench tools, and digital fabrication tools including the Lasersaur laser cutter, CNC mill, and Flow waterjet.

Returns and exchanges
If something is broken, parts are missing or lost in shipping, we'll replace it.

If you break a part during assembly let us know, we can replace it for cost of postage.

We cannot take refunds on kits that have been assembled but we can try and fix things if there's something you don't like.
We generally prefer payment in advance for Etsy items. If you want a custom item designed or built we can work out a payment agreement depending on the scope and amount of work.
Currently we only ship to the US, but we are able to ship FedEx Ground and UPS Ground if needed. We recycle packing material when possible but always use new cardboard boxes. We always ship with a tracking number and can add signature confirmation or insurance if you like.
Additional policies and FAQs
We're happy to do bulk / wholesale orders with a partial prepayment on a negotiated discount.

We're also happy to do custom work. If you see one of our products and think, "that's almost what I want, could we just change this one bit?" please drop us email and let us know. What you think is an expensive custom request could be for something we've already developed but not put on the market.
