A friend is moving, and she gave me a boatload of fabric. This remnant just begged to be a mason jar salad set! I love the style of the print.
Made a couple of gunmetal blue arrow print bags this morning! This one is for 4 pint jars.
A new, one-of-a-kind bag, made from a pair of jeans. After cutting, I discovered a flaw in the fabric. Rather than throw the whole piece away, I did some “visible mending.” So now it has even more character!

From my little house among the trees...

My earliest memories are of sewing, and throughout my life I’ve been drawn to fiber arts of all kinds. My favorites are sewing, embroidery, knitting and crochet. I’ve worked in sewing and alterations professionally since I was 18. (Yikes! Almost 30 years now?) I find joy and satisfaction when I am able to use my abilities to create items that are not only lovely and unique, but also practical and useful. I also love to teach sewing, so creating beginner-friendly patterns is another joy of mine.

My business is located in my home - just me and a sewing machine. I must keep a careful balance between building and promoting my little business, and the responsibility of caring for my husband and two girls. I absolutely love interacting with customers, and working together to make items that exactly meet their needs.

I do my best to keep quality high, with sturdy materials and meticulous workmanship. I want the items I make to be useful for a long time. But I also want to keep prices as low as possible, so that they are accessible for most people. I choose materials based on these criteria - the best balance of quality and price. I often recycle clothing and home items into one-of-a-kind bags. Most items in my shop are made and ready to ship. I don’t like to keep people waiting, so orders are shipped as quickly as possible - often the same day they are ordered!

My daughter Lydia has helped with the shop since her little hands were big enough to turn jar sleeves right side out. Lately she has been helping with sewing, and even making creations of her own, so it's time to make her an official shop member!

Packaging materials

I know my zero-waste customers want to know!

I am happy to report that I have transitioned to all recycled/recyclable packaging products! Your order will come either wrapped in kraft paper, or in a cardboard box, depending on what is most suitable for your order. It will be sealed with recyclable paper tape.

I do use heat-printed labels - I know they're evil, but they save ink (packaging) and trips to the post office (gas).

I limit the "extra papers" to one business card and one tiny thank-you. I will leave those out if you ask.
