Announcement   Since most of my pads are made from the Kiki Pads pattern, and I do not own the rights to that pattern, I feel it would be unfair to include sewing instructions that I don't own. However, I will be working on listing cut out pads anyway and linking to a tutorial that is pretty self-explanatory.

About

Morbid curiosity leads to some interesting places; including, for Ruthie, making and selling cloth pads.

A few years ago, Ruthie was doing some internet reconnaissance about cloth diapers and saw a link to something called "mama cloth." "What in the WORLD is mama cloth?", she wondered. Imagining grown women draped in cloth diaper-like creations for purposes unknown, Ruthie clicked on the link and was aghast at the description. Cloth...cloth MENSTRUAL pads?! What were these people THINKING? Didn't they know that BLOOD came out during menses? That's like...like...washing a used Band-Aid and putting it back on your scabby toe!

And then Ruthie saw that there were links to patterns.

Something you should know about Ruthie is that she likes to sew. No wait, she LOVES to sew. It satisfies her, makes her feel proficient and capable and like she has a good honest reason to feel good about herself and her skills. She loves a challenge when sewing, loves to figure out how to get something to work, how to make things better.

She found the idea of making cloth menstrual pads irresistible. This was because, in part, the pictures of the cloth pads she found were just okay. Not great. Just...eh. Nothing special. Ruthie thought she could do BETTER.

So, to the thrift store she went! Snagged up a few used flannel baby receiving blankets, an old towel, and an old vinyl tablecloth...and home she went, exulting in the imminent green menses she would enjoy from now on.

After using the cloth pads for a couple of months, Ruthie was hooked. No more disposable pads for her! Cloth pads were easy to use, exciting to see in the bathroom instead of just plain old white plastic, and could it be that she was cramping less?!

She went out, bought prettier fabric, and began her adventure of making cloth pads. There were extras, and these pads Ruthie decided to sell, because surewhynot. :)

Today, after the surprise birth of her first child, Ruthie finds the challenge of stocking and running her Aunt Flow Etsy shop exciting and fulfilling. It is a pleasure, it has been and will be for some time yet.

Because Ruthie was researching info on cloth diapers for William, she discovered the whole cloth pads community and decided to try it! William also thinks the fabrics and machinery involved in pad-making are tasty and fascinating.

Hi, I'm Ruthie, and I love cloth pads! I run the show here at Aunt Flow, from picking out the fabrics to packaging everything up once it's been purchased.

Shop policies

Last updated on April 1, 2012
Hey, welcome! This shop is for items menstrual, probably reusable. I've been making (and using) cloth pads for a few years now, and I think I've come up with a pretty good methodology for making great pads. Try one, see for yourself.

All items are made in my dog-friendly, smoke-free home, by me. All shrinkable (natural) fabrics are prewashed using Nellie's All-Natural Laundry Soda.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
All payments must clear through PayPal before your order will ship.

If you would like to purchase through my shop using a different payment method, please contact me and I will set up a special listing for you. Again, the payment method must clear before I will ship the product.
Shipping
Orders will ship as soon as possible once your payment clears, usually by the next day, but please allow up to 3 business days to ship.

Most shipments will go through USPS. I will try to provide a delivery confirmation number for tracking purposes if there is one available.

The pad packaging is discreet, although the breast pads ship in a clear plastic container. Please note me if you would not like this.
Refunds and Exchanges
All unwashed, unused merchandise is potentially refundable or exchangeable. I must receive the product back before a refund or exchange will be processed. If you have questions, ask!! :D
Additional policies and FAQs
If a coupon code is applied that doesn't meet the deal terms, I will contact you and wait for rectification before shipping your order.
