Updates

It's a new year! So I thought I'd share a collage of the pretty things made last year. Did you have a favorite?
This jacket is part of a wedding dress I'm shipping to a customer today! She asked if I could make a version of the gown at top right with the skirt at bottom right. So I did a slight customization so the jacket would look perfect over the skirt.
For the first time in almost 10 years, I’m having a Black Friday sale!  See all the discounted pretty things by clicking the “On Sale” section of my shop!

About Me

If I had to choose one motto or adage that I live by it would be that I refuse to EVER outgrow playing dress up. Whatever the occasion, if it’s a chance to go in costume, I’ll be there with bells on! (Literally speaking, most of the time, as I’m a belly dancer!)

I’ve been designing clothing since I learned to hold a pencil at age 4. At 12, my Mother sat me down and showed me how to use a sewing machine, and I started designing and making barbie doll clothes. In my early teens I disovered the Victorian era, and was hopelessly, irrepressibly hooked.

I made gowns from whatever I had on hand, which at the time, wasn’t much. Old curtains, donated fabric, thrift shop prom gowns de-constructed – if it was pretty and had a remotely Victorian aesthetic, I could make something cool out of it! My friends and I started a high tea/historical society of sorts, and we had a ball getting together in our re-constructed finds, and playing Victorian lady for an afternoon here and there.

I started belly dancing in early adult-hood. It was then that I saw the possibilities of doing what I love for a living. With a continual market of new dancers looking for pretty things that can’t be bought in the store, I saw an opportunity, and opened an online store.

My store has evolved over the years – from Tribal style flair to Burlesque to Gothic Victorian. I love lace, and can’t seem to resist sneaking it into almost everything I make.

I live in Rhode Island with my husband and two adorable young sons. When I’m not sewing or spending quality time goofing off with family, you can find me wandering round unusual places and spaces. Steampunk meets, belly dance haflas, high teas, cosplay conventions, and drum circles are a few of my favorite activities.

Thanks for reading!

Frequently asked questions
Can you make this item in a different color, or custom make it in my size?

If it's a gown or a complete look, absolutely, I'd love to!

If it's a single item - like a skirt, hairpiece, or gloves, I'm afraid that as of 2018 I no longer offer custom made separates. I've been blessed with a busy and continually increasing schedule of custom costume and wedding gown orders. In order to keep up, I've had to streamline my creation process.

It's important to me to keep my pretty things as affordable as possible, so I still offer separates. I fit them in my sewing schedule each time my wedding dress orders allow, and I make them in small batches.

So please know that each of the items you see posted for sale in my shop is limited edition, and often completely one-of-a-kind!

Can you rush my order?

Most likely yes. But please contact me to check!

I stay heavily booked with sewing orders, but if I can, I'm willing to work some overtime so your gown or costume will reach you in time. I'll check my schedule to determine if I have enough overtime hours available to be able to make your date.

Rush order fees come to about 15% additional. The full fee is only charged if I have to make the entire item during overtime hours - and often I have pieces already in stock in some sizes. When you contact me about a rush order, please send me your measurements and height. That way I can give you a correct quote.

Can you do a payment plan?

Absolutely - I'll be happy to split the payment for you. Pay in installments with Paypal by following these simple steps:

1: Reserve your item
Please check out on etsy, and choose "other" as your payment method. This will reserve your item just for you, no payment required.

2: Contact me
Please send me the following information:
-Your Paypal email
-How many payments you would like to make
You can add this under "note to seller" when you check out.

3: Make your payments
I'll send you an invoice via email. Your invoice will include a split payment fee:
2 payments, $5
3-5 payments, $8

If your item is in stock, I'll ship just as soon as I receive your final payment. Custom items ship about 2 weeks after final payment.

Can you make a custom gown for me?

**Update, January 2019**

I'm afraid that I am no longer accepting custom designed gown orders.

I can still custom make any of my current designs to fit you perfectly. And I can make them in multiple beautiful colors, too. To see all available designs, you are welcome to browse my website - auralynne.com.

I'm working towards growing my in-stock sales enough to hire and train a sewing helper - and once that happens, I plan to open up the doors for custom designed orders again.

But until that happens, if you are looking for a different style than what's posted here in my etsy shop and on my website, I'm afraid that I am unable to take on those kinds of commissions.
