Announcement    Welcome to Avalanche Looms on Etsy. Avalanche Looms is also my actual store and weaving workshop, open to the public, in a red building on our farm in Avalanche, WI.

I'm a hand weaver who makes small batches of weaves in series. No two pieces will be the same, yet all the pieces in a collection will be similar. I repeat my favorite designs and recombine them with new variations. When I've finished a warp, a new one goes on the loom, and I start a new set of pieces. The colors and designs change, as I weave off the new warp, and see where it takes me. This becomes a new collection of weaves, which I'll list for sale.

Lately I've been weaving scarfs, but I also make wash cloths and other small weaves. Tapes without Measure (measureless measuring tapes), table cloths, coverlets, cushions, pot mats, sacks, and paper weaves are things I weave.

My family heritage is Finnish and Swedish, and my weaving style reflects Scandinavian culture. I use the best weaving materials I can find. I prefer to weave linen, cotton and hemp yarns. Rag weave is also a favorite weave of mine.

My weaves are sold only in my farm store and weaving workshop here in Avalanche, and online in this etsy shop. No wholesale.

If my shop is empty, as it frequently is, it is because I weave slowly, and by myself. I announce my shop updates on Instagram - Avalanche Looms, along with pictures of scarfs I'm weaving before they are listed. (I do not accept custom orders or special requests).
