We LOVED this picture! It was a perfect likeness, and done and sent so quickly to us. It was a 50th wedding anniversary present and so much appreciated. Everybody was commenting. I love your work, couldn’t be happier or recommend more highly!

Working on a new scene from Paris. Maybe I'll get to visit one day. In the meantime, enjoy the glimpses here and there.

About

Rubbing colourful sticks on fabric

Peter draws. Both his parents were Architects. His mother wanted to be an artist, but that wasn't considered a valid aspiration for a young gel. Her uncle, Arthur Murch, was a respected Australian artist. He made the Govett's Leap sculpture at Blackheath and lots of moderately famous paintings. So you can say fine arts is in the blood.

Back to our Peter. When he was younger he would draw cars. When he was doing the Newtown Art Markets in Sydney he would draw bold black and white ink studies and make lino prints of people. Now he's settled in the Blue Mountains with four boys and a little girl, he's drawing again.

Over the years he has refined a way of laying down color on fabric to accurately render images from photographs. Mostly portraits, but also animals, architecture and cars. Maybe you have a special photo he could draw up large on fabric.

This Etsy shop came about 2013 when Peter took the jump and quit his day job to draw full time. The Blue Mountains is a great place for weekend markets and niche art galleries. Along with me (Veronica) as web page wrangler, hopefully we'll make a go of this.

Welcome to Avalon Prand, where you can find lots of drawings in pastel and charcoal on fabric. My drawings are well fixed so are quite stable, but not made to be washable. I aim for an impressionistic yet realistic image softened by the textures of the pastels and the fabric.
