:: ABOUT MY WORK ::
Everything you see here is handmade by me, Avery Elizabeth Beckendorf, in my home studio. I primarily work with vintage supplies, using everything from repurposed silverware and odd bits of metal to deadstock vintage beads and disassembled thrifted costume jewelry. A scavenger by nature, I find inspiration in things from the past. They may have outlived their original purpose, but I love the challenge of fashioning a new function for previously loved objects like old spoons or wooden spools. Plus, it's recycling!

My note cards and art are usually collage-esque, using found objects and vintage sewing notions. I do freehand machine-stitched "illustrations," resulting in a unique fusion of paper crafts, sewing, and drawing, and every piece is one-of-a-kind. I will soon be offering archival-quality prints of some of my stitched illustrations.

You may also find the occasional hand-worked wooden ring or pendant. I use scraps leftover from my husband's woodworking projects for my wooden jewelry, and primarily work with Brazilian walnut, also known as ipe. All of the wood we buy is sustainably harvested.

:: ABOUT ME ::
When I'm not writing, teaching (I'm a full-time MFA grad student and GTA), or crafting (or scavenging materials for crafting), I spend a lot of time shopping on Etsy, reading, tackling home improvement projects with my husband, working in our vegetable garden, cooking, drinking iced tea, riding my bicycle, trying new beers, blogging (avenuehandmade.com/blog/), and finding new ways to live cheaply and sustainably.

Feel free to contact me via convo or e-mail anytime.

Payment
:: METHODS ACCEPTED ::
I accept PayPal, Google Checkout, and money orders. (Local buyers are welcome to contact me for other payment options and pickup.) You may pay with a credit card through PayPal (no account necessary) or Google, or I can accept credit cards through ProPay. Just contact me with your preference.

Payment is expected within 3 days of purchase. Please contact me if you are unable to make payment within this time frame; we'll work something out.

:: DEATH & TAXES ::
Virginia residents will be charged 5% sales tax. Please wait for a revised invoice before sending payment.

:: OTHER ::
I'm happy to discuss "layaway" options or payment plans, just ask. :)
Shipping
Most of my pieces are ready to ship, so your package will be shipped within 48 hours of payment. I always send out an e-mail letting you know precisely when your package went in the mail. If there are any delays in shipping, I let you know via e-mail. In the case of a custom item, the item listing will specify the time frame for completion, and I will notify you of the shipping date when it's ready.

:: DOMESTIC ::
Domestic shipping is via USPS First Class with Delivery Confirmation. Upgrades to Priority are available. Please contact me for a quote.

Insurance is available for an additional charge of $1.65 on orders up to $50. Please contact me for additional quotes on insurance, and a revised invoice. Unfortunately I cannot be responsible for uninsured shipments that are lost or damaged in shipping.

I combine shipping and will refund the difference if the actual cost differs from the quoted amount by more than 50 cents.

:: INTERNATIONAL ::
International shipping is via USPS First Class International/AirMail. The buyer is responsible for all taxes, VAT, fees, customs, etc. Please contact me for a quote if your country is not listed.

:: PACKAGING ::
I strive to package your purchase attractively, securely, and sustainably. To keep shipping costs low and reduce waste, jewelry will be wrapped in tissue paper and tied with a cute ribbon, but I am happy to package it in a gift box upon request (no extra charge). Notecards and prints are slipped into stiff cardboard mailers. I re-use clean bubble mailers and boxes.
Refunds and Exchanges
:: SATISFACTION GUARANTEED ::
I stand by the quality of my work, and I want you to be absolutely tickled pink with your purchase. If you are not thrilled with your purchase (we all know Internet shopping can be a bit dicey), please contact me and we will work something out. Refunds are available upon return of the item(s) in original condition, less shipping. Buyer pays return shipping. For hygienic reasons I cannot accept returns or exchanges on earrings.

If something breaks from normal use, please contact me. I will be more than happy to repair the item at no charge--just send it to me and I'll cover the shipping to send it back!
