About

Someone said, "Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time." That sounds about right.

I started making things out of felted wool sweaters a few years back after rediscovering knitting, and through that, the newest fad in crafting: felting. I fell in love with the concept of felting, but despite the love of the finished product, I didn't have the patience to knit something up and then shrink it. I found a great book at my local library about creating things from recycled wool sweaters and it changed my life.

It's been a slow process for me to establish my Etsy shop in the midst of homeschooling kids and working part-time, but I just love making things. Actually, it's more than a love of making things. I cannot not create. I must do it or I just feel off, somehow empty or missing a part of myself. I love immersing myself in the creative process and the feeling of fulfillment that I get when I make something with my own two hands and my one busy, overloaded, stuffed-full-of-ideas brain. And I'm still thrilled when I think about being part of this great marketplace called Etsy!

In my spare time, I enjoy:
>spending time with my husband, kids, friends and the rest of my family
>curling up in my cozy corner of the couch reading or watching movies, and eating dark chocolate
>trying out ideas I discover on Pinterest: I freely admit I'm addicted to fashion boards, homemade cleaning products, recipe reading, and looking at pictures of decrepit buildings
>volunteering my time and talents to my kid's drama group (check it out: fullimpacttheater.org)

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit my shop! I'm so excited to offer the items for sale here that I have proudly handcrafted with love. I hope you like what you see and come back for more.

All my wool creations are made by first washing a sad, lonely, unloved sweater in hot water and drying on high heat, a process called fulling, but more commonly referred to as felting. This creates a dense fabric that can be cut without fraying or unraveling, and in the case of purses and bags, there is no need for lining (although I rather like linings in my purses and so usually all my handbags are made with a lining). Even though the materials used have previously been washed and dried on hot/high heat settings, handwash in cool water with mild detergent and lay flat to dry to maintain appearance and quality of the wool. Washing is not recommended for purses with wood handles or for stuffed animals and decorative items. Instead, surface or spot clean with a damp cloth and allow to air dry.
