How adorable! I want to put it in a picture frame so I can look at it everyday. But little piggy will be in mail soon & put a smile on the face of a special friend. Wonderful packaging.

About

One Night I Painted An Angel

One night I felt very restless and distracted. There was an image in my head of this little angel, a little girl with strawberry blond hair. I just had to capture what she looked like. I sat down and painted her on my computer without any breaks and lost track of time completely, almost forgetting to go to work. The next day I received the news that my brother had taken his life in a moment of despair, during the time I would have been painting. So the little angel has become inseparably tied to my art and my mourning for my brother. I don't believe this is a coincidence, and I feel my life has be irreparably changed by the experience. In the days that followed, I painted a portrait of my brother in preparation for the funeral. It was incredibly difficult, but tracing the lines of his face helped me to focus and think about all of my memories of him. Over the following weeks I then wrote a short book for the family about Chuck's mischievous adventures as an adolescent. While his death has been devastating to friends and family, it has brought forth a great treasure of beauty celebrating the amazing individual my brother was. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a family member to suicide or addiction.

During this period of mourning I had a knee replacement and I am still in very poor health. I have been unable to go back to work in a traditional job, but I can share art or crafts that I work on a little at a time to try to cover the medical bills. Though these struggles in my personal life have challenged me a great deal; I have been able to grow artistically and share with others who are suffering personal losses. And there have been moments of joy and new life; we welcomed a new granddaughter in April.

If you are someone who has lost a family member, remember that you are not alone. I hope that you will find some art that means something to you, or at least take a moment to reflect on a loved one and remember how precious and fleeting life truly is. I am here to help, if you don't see something you like let me know. I would be happy to create something special for you. Everyone is welcome here and there is no extra charge to personalize an item or painting.
