I love the artistry that Susan puts into every pair of slippers. And they feel so good to wear!

I enjoy creating beautiful things, and useful things. I make every item that I sell in my shop.
I started sewing thirty some years ago, out of necessity when I unexpectedly became a single parent with three pre-schoolers. I had an old non-working sewing machine, and felt compelled to fix it. I began to create all of my own and my children's clothing. I was able to move out of public housing because of the gift of being able to sew. It was a real blessing from the Lord. The only thing that I couldn't make were socks and shoes. That may be why I am so fascinated with creating moccasins and slipper boots out of beautiful Pendleton wool.
I taught children with special educational needs in the public school system in Wisconsin for 25 years. It was a challenging and rewarding career (But I didn't enjoy all the paperwork.)
I have recently retired from teaching. Now I have the opportunity to create beautiful things and useful things through the medium of watercolor and through designing and sewing with wool, sheepskin, leather, and other interesting materials. It is a creative process, that is continually unfolding as I grow in these endeavors. It is amazing to think that the blessing I was given over thirty years ago continues to intrigue and bless me (and I hope others) today.
Owner, Maker, Designer
I started sewing when I unexpectedly became a single parent when my three children were pre-schoolers. I had an old non-working sewing machine, but felt the need to fix it. It became a very real blessing as I began to sew everything we needed.
I make each item that is in my shop, using a regular sewing machine and by hand. Most items take several hours or days of hand work. For this reason, I ask that you take accurate measurements and choose fabrics carefully when making custom orders. I enjoy making custom orders, but because the work I do is an artistic expression of the fabrics I use, the product will likely be somewhat different from the models in my Etsy shop. I will inform you about the availability of specific fabrics within the ads, or by messaging you personally before filling your order. Pendleton wools are beautiful fabrics, and are a joy to use in my sewing. Because of the jacquard (woven) nature of the Pendleton wools, different sections of the same piece of wool have variations of the theme of that piece. This is the interesting and challenging nature of the fabric. I use this characteristic of Pendleton wools to create one-of-a-kind items. The fabric design determines the next step in the creation of each piece. I do not want you to be disappointed with the end-product, so if you really want your purchase to look exactly like the original item, please contact me before ordering so that I can attempt to recreate a more similar product for you.

If you have a question about the color(s) of the fabrics you choose, please ask before ordering. Fabrics are all genuine Pendleton fabrics, unless otherwise noted. Sometimes one Pendleton fabric will be substituted for another of the same colorway. In this case, the color / pattern change will be noted in the item ad, or I will contact you via Etsy messages.
