I love how language works! The whole concept intrigues me. That probably explains why I went into Deaf Education - to help teach reading and language skills to students who never heard and only "saw" language. I have also been a sign language interpreter in the college setting and a professional writing tutor for the TRIO Student Support Services, also at the college level.

When I was 10 years old, my Uncle Bob read an essay of mine and said, "Billie, you're a writer." I hope I'm not proving him wrong in my endeavors. I am not a children's book author, per se, but ended up writing a children's story about a little puppy who is left-"handed" - just like me! "Lucky, the Left Pawed Puppy" is my little hero's book and he saves the day just because he sees the world from a different angle.
I have some articles on hubpages.com and I'm working on a novel at the present moment (Summer 2017) that is set in the Midwest during the Viet Nam War.
