BackstreetLeather is taking a short break

I've PM'd, and emailed, yet no response from the owner. Belt was ordered 2/18/18 and can't get a response of an ETA. I hate leaving a negative response without having an item. I'll change my review once the belt is received and or if I ever get a response.

Just as authentic as many designer belts, but you can't really call it so you get a lot of curious asks. Becoming quite popular now when I wear it, makes me feel like a rockstar!

Was not really as described. Was more white than black and already started cracking a bit. Will probably just toss it.

I stand by everything I make. Any time an item does not meet quality expectations, I remake the item and ship for free. This customer will be receiving a new belt. I will also add that every distressed belt comes out a little differently due to differences in the way each hide takes dye and distressing. The color varies from almost black to light gray. In this instance, the belt he received was a medium gray.

Took it out of the box and immediately put it on. Its sturdy, and pretty, and has that wonderful leather smell. The seller was communicative throughout the process. Will likely buy the black version too!

Great looking belt, lettering is tooled very deeply into the leather.

Our little family shop since 1974
My Dad, Stephen Williams, started Backstreet Leather in 1974 on a table made from salvaged floorboards and an old phone booth in the Cameron Village subway in Raleigh, NC. My parents met when my mom came in to have a key chain with daisies on it made. They worked together in the shop, my dad doing most of the tooling and my mom the sewing. We still use many of those old vintage tools my dad made belts with in the 70's.
I helped out at the shop and spent hours watching my dad make products. I picked up a mallet around the age of eight and started making items for customers at 15.
We closed our small 'brick and mortar' store in 2013, so you'll only find us here on Etsy

***HOW TO MEASURE: Here is how to measure for a belt:
figure out where you want to wear your belt. If you wear most of your pants low, measure at that level on your torso. If you wear your pants higher, or at your waist, measure there. If you are going to wear the belt with jeans, put on jeans you wear often and measure with them on. You need a measuring tape or string. Wrap the string/measuring tape around your torso where you plan to wear your belt. Don't suck in or pull it tight or your belt won't fit. The tape/string should be flush to your body...not loose or tight. If you are using string, mark it and measure with a yardstick/ruler. If using tape, just look down and give me that measurement. If you are planning on wearing a large buckle please let me know.
If you want to measure an belt you already wear, please check use this diagram to measure correctly:
***HOW TO MEASURE for wristbands:
find the bone on the top of your wrist, lay your tape measure/string on top and wrap around your wrist. Again, don't pull too tight or allow to hang loose. That is your wrist measurement. If I am making one for you, just send me your actual measurement and whether you want it to fit snugly or loosely and I'll work out the rest.
If I am duplicating the item you want in your size, please know that I will try to match the color of the original exactly, but different pieces of leather take dye differently so the color may not be exactly the same. Also note that you are looking at a digital photo on a computer, which may not show the exact true color of the item.
Accepted payment methods
Returns and exchanges
Custom items (that is, with your name written on it, or specifically what you want, not a copy of an existing item) will not be eligible for exchanges. If you are not satisfied with your custom item, please let me know and we will work something out (I will probably remake it for you)
When I ship my items, I try to be as green as possible. The bubble wrap envelopes I use are salvaged from shipments we receive from buckle suppliers.
If you order jewelry, I ship padded with up-cycled bubble envelopes and then in cardboard envelopes made from cereal and similar boxes. You'll see what I've been munching on!
