About

Ethically sourced, hand made, stylish and sublime. Looking for covetable children's clothing with a clear conscience? You've come to the right place.

Back to Beyond specialises in handmade organic clothing and accessories for babies and toddlers. Frustrated by the void between affordable mass produced children's clothing with questionable ethics and sources, and prohibitively expensive and frankly unexciting ethical alternatives, we decided it was time for an another option that ticked all the boxes: responsibly sourced, lovingly made, and yet still affordable, without compromising on quality or style. Back to Beyond was born.

About our materials:

We have searched far and wide to source the very best materials for our products, and once we'd found what we were looking for we narrowed down our choices to the very best of the bunch. Our organic cotton comes from Scandinavia and is luxuriously soft. It has been rigorously worn, washed and worked to the bone by our own dribbling, spilling, grabbing testers to ensure it stands the test of time. The quality of these fabrics truly needs to be felt to be believed.

About our process:

All our garments are designed and made by hand to exceptionally high standards. Most items are made to order just for you.

Every piece of fabrics we use is lovingly pre-washed and dried before use, to minimise any shrinkage and ensure your garment maintains its true shape throughout it's life, so you'll never experience that first wash disappointment when you realise your off-the-rack item has somehow become all twisted and misshapen.

All finishing is professional and durable. We know babies' and toddlers' clothes really go through the wringer (perhaps literally) and need to stand up to frequent washing and heavy wear to knees, elbows and seams, so we don't cut corners on construction.

Why choose organic?

All of our materials are carefully sourced to ensure the highest quality. The fundamental difference between 'traditional' cotton and organic cotton is that organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides. Traditional cotton accounts for around 25% of all chemical pesticide use in agriculture worldwide. In order to meet the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Certification) standard, every step in a fabric's production - from growing, to transport, to milling, to printing - must undergo a strict approval process, and the entire supply chain must also meet a standard of fair working conditions set by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Only then does the fabric receive GOTS certification.

Why buy handmade?

We believe that no one should be exploited for the clothes we buy and wear. On a basic level, all clothes are handmade, but sadly a lot of the hands that make them are underpaid and subjected to unfair and often unsafe conditions. Supply chains in countries where textile labour is cheap are so long and convoluted that is often very difficult even for more influential fashion houses to ensure good conditions and fair pay for garment workers, even if they want to. By buying an item that is handmade in the UK you are opting out of 'fast fashion' and the mass production of clothing as a product of cheap labour.

We're here for you.

If you can't find what you're looking for, and would like to enquire about other sizes or a custom order or gift, or if you just want to let us know what you think of us and our products, please contact us. We'd love to hear from you.
