We live on a farm where corn and soybeans are grown, in years past Pete and his father raised purebred Black Angus cattle & feeder pigs hence when we began our woodworking and hand forging steel business Bacon Square Farm was born.

A hubby and wife team that began the journey of designing and creating handmades in 1985 in the old feed shed on the farm, now transformed into our woodworking shop and the cattle barn has become the steel / iron / metal blacksmithing area plus holds farm machinery too.

Our hands touch each and every item with NO outsources to other companies or country's, plus we market, photograph, package and ship your purchase.

We sit at the kitchen table with pad and pencil drawing out new ideas for future products, they are tweaked if necessary. Pete enjoyed special orders where only dimensions are given and the challenge to create a new piece for one of our customers, I marvel at his skill to design / create without a pattern.

Pete enjoys taking a piece of lumber or sheet of steel and transforming this raw product into works of art be it a simple birdhouse, pet feeder or furniture piece for your home, cabin or garden area, next step into our home studio for painting and the finishing touches then packaging the finished product for our customer.

We'd like to believe we are making heirlooms for the next generations to come, our work handed down as a treasured gift or perhaps found by a child playing in there grandparents attic or old barn, one of the reasons we love handmades and will remain true to this art form.

Our style is difficult to describe a mix from so many ~ it's our own twist and flavor.

Before finding Etsy we did juried Art shows traveling with our wares within the United States, at one time a wholesale rep with showrooms in Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington DC, and Dallas. Our products found there way to many stores and boutiques. Our wood pine trees were displayed when " Origins " made there debut in the make up department at Dayton's stores now Macy's. This Old House Magazine featured our colonial birdhouse in one of there issues and we've been in numerous others in the past 20 plus years..

We are honored when people buy our products for there homes, office or cabins as Pete and I are just humble old farm folks.
