About

Welcome to Bahru Boutique!

My name is Laura, and I began Bahru in 2014 whilst living in Brighton, UK. Since moving back to beautiful Dorset, Bahru has grown organically, and three years on I am so pleased to be making and selling jewellery and gifts that I love, and make other's so happy.

Through the summer months I take my stall down to the beautiful beach near my home, where I sit all day and sell to passers by, chatting to those who are enjoying their holiday and the beach. It's often so nice to take home a little something from an enjoyable weekend, or just a nice day out, as a memento. I also pack up my little van and take my stall to local events and festivals all through the year, you can find a list of these events on my Facebook page. Through winter I also work as a snowboard instructor, managing my time between these two wonderful jobs!

I enjoy being outdoors and always love an adventure. I am so inspired by nature and the Earth, and create things that remind me of certain experiences or memories. You'll find animals and wildlife at the root of most of my jewellery; most people find they are drawn to a particular animal (for me it's the Elephant!) which always make perfect gift ideas for friends and loved ones.

I am infatuated with travel, as so many of us are, and so draw inspiration from countries and cultures I have or would love to experience. For me, the East is such an exciting direction, I love Europe and have already travelled through more than 14 European countries, but have itchy soles to venture further from my home in search of the highest mountains (I love to go snowboarding) and the deepest of lakes (although I have a fear of eels). This too can be seen in a lot of my designs.

I do hope you enjoy wandering through my little shop, and thank you for stopping by!

Peace, love and happy travels,

Laura x

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

If you'd like an item customised with different colour detailing or a different charm do get in touch - I'd like to make something special and unique for you!

Sizing details

Small wrists? No problem! The standard size for all my bracelets is approx. 19cm, however if you'd like a smaller or larger size, just pop a note in the "Notes to Seller" box at the checkout with the size you'd like your bracelet(s) in centimetres.

Care instructions

I'm frequently asked if my jewellery is safe to wear in the sea or in the shower. My answer is yes, however your jewellery will last much longer if you don't! But if you do, make sure you wash off salt water or detergents/soaps with clean water afterwards as these will deteriorate your pieces over time.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I wrap all of your items carefully ready for posting. Sterling Silver Necklaces and all earrings will arrive to you in my special Bahru tins amongst dried rose petals for a super special touch! Bracelets, anklets and necklaces will arrive in little bags*.

*Please note that if you order two or more bracelets, anklets or necklaces, they will arrive in one bag unless you specify that you'd like them individually wrapped. Earrings and sterling silver necklaces will arrive in individual tins.

How long will it be before I get my order?

The wonderful thing about shopping on Etsy is that you are buying something unique from an actual person. This means that unlike big companies, we don't have a big stockroom with lots of people to pick and pack orders for us. When you place your order with Bahru, I print off your order details, then add you to the queue of orders I am already working on here in my studio. I individually make and pack your items, write you a hand-written note, then take your little parcel off to the post office. This is called the Processing Time. You then have the Shipping Time (or the time it takes from when I post your items to when the postie delivers then to you!) which varies depending on where in the world you are.
