So the picture really did not do this item justice. It is a truly beautiful scarf shot through with metallic threads. When I wear it out I get stopped and asked about it. At least one person made me put her in contact with the maker, as she wants one. It was packaged nicely and shipped in a timely manner. Great transaction.

beautiful item - old 30s charm for a birthday party thank you again lovely human
I have been making textile objects since before I could read and some of my earliest entrepreneurial ventures as a child were making things and selling them. This practice evolved throughout my life so opening an online shop was the next logical step.
I work mostly with salvaged and upcycled materials. It's not that I don't love new fabrics and the luxury of working with them. I simply do not love all of the problems textile production causes for the environment and how poorly textile workers are treated. Lucky for me, vintage fabrics have been crafted so well that they are as sturdy today as the day they were made. Also lucky for me, I live in a culture of consumerism so discarded textile fiber products aren't often used enough to be worn out.
Working with whatever materials are available is fun for me because I get to dig deep into my bag of textile tricks and manipulate fabrics into new and useful things. I use a variety of processes including, but not limited to, embroidery, dyeing, embellishment and beadwork, on and off loom fabric construction, painting, airbrushing, and machine sewing. Most of the items I make are one-of-a-kind. Most of the clothes and accessories transcend fashion trends and assimilate into personal style year after year. That's cool because I make my stuff to last forever.
Because I like to keep making room for new fun supplies to upcycle, I regularly destash my very awesome lifetime collection of Quality Junk. Check my vintage supply shop out at http://www.etsy.com/shop/QualityJunk/ .
