About

Why I forge

I started working metal in High school when I had an Uncle that taught the welding shop class. I soon discovered something that held my attention far better than most topics at the time. Since high school I have always had a love affair with metal and for years later when working for fortune 500 companies I would always day-dream about getting back in the shop.

My greatest satisfaction comes from knowing one of my products may be in someone's hands or in a kitchen drawer 50 or 100 years from now- If for a moment they look at the little item and say "Wow'- who was the guy that made this?! ... I guess I'll be happy to be remembered for that. In any case, every one of my items is made with that kind of permanence in mind. I want these items to become part of your life, as they are mine.
It's my gift to you.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my shop. If there's anything you'd like to see, please let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate your custom order in as few as 2 to 3 days

Thanks again,

Steve Howell

Additional policies and FAQs
Thanks for checking out Ballard Forge. There's nothing I enjoy more than my creations riding around in someone's pocket or inhabiting a corner of their living room. I put my heart and soul into every piece that comes out of the studio and while I sympathize with the expectations of large discounts for big orders, the fact is every piece is hand made and still takes me the same amount of time per piece whether there be one or one hundred of them. Therefore, on average I can typically offer discounts of 10 to 20% on orders of twenty openers or more. Remember, there is no middle-man between you or me. This largely IS my wholesale price. I CAN, however off slightly higher discounts on certain models of openers as some of them do require less hand work than others. If you are interested, please inquire and thanks again for checking in~
