Announcement   Here you'll find hoops inspired by 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, Gilmore Girls, Arrested Development, Hamilton, Kimmy Schmidt, and even a bit of John Muir. If I get obsessed with something, chances are good that I'm gonna express it with needle and thread.

My shop contains items that are both ready-to-ship and made-to-order. Please be sure to read the listing carefully to know how soon you can expect your order to ship. Depending on my current volume of orders, made-to-order items often ship sooner than listed.

About

From Chicago to Montana: The Story Behind The Bananya Stand

I opened my shop in May 2011 with the initial goal of making a few dollars as I knit and crocheted my way through an old stash of yarn. About a year later, I dusted off my cross stitch supplies and created my first cross stitch piece to sell. While I have since upgraded to using computer software instead of a pencil and graph paper to make my cross stitch patterns, every single hoop is still completely hand made.

The story behind my shop name, Bananya Stand, has two parts. When I was young, my occasional nickname would be Anya Bananya. Also, one of my favorite shows, Arrested Development, featured an oft-repeated phrase, "There's always money in the banana stand." I decided to combine the two, and thus Bananya Stand was born.

In August 2015, I left my job as a law firm librarian in Chicago to move to Northwest Montana for a dream job. Since this job is only part time, I've relied on my Etsy shop to help pay the bills. Without that extra income, I wouldn't be able to achieve this lifelong dream to live in the mountains.

Since I was a small child in the south suburbs of Chicago, I have loved working with my hands. While my crafting pursuits fell by the wayside during high school and college, I am now happy to be a librarian by day and a stitcher by night.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

If you would like a custom cross stitch design, just send me a message. Please note that it could take up to 2-3 weeks for me to complete your order.

My bread and butter is to stitch quotes surrounded by a border or other image accents. I will work closely with you to figure out what borders/accents you would like. I have the following materials to work with:

Hoops: 3", 4", 5", 6", or 7" circular hoops, 3.5"x5" and 5"x9" oval hoops
Background fabric: white, beige ("lite oatmeal"), navy blue, light blue, seafoam green, black, pale pink, green, red, khaki.
Thread: I have a wide variety of thread colors. Anything goes!

Gift wrapping and packaging

If your item is a gift being shipped directly to the recipient, just let me know in a note when you check out. Feel free to also include a message to the gift recipient, which I will include in the package.
