About BananyaStand

There's Always Money in the Bananya Stand

I learned how to cross stitch from my grandma when I was around 7 years old. In 2012, I picked it up again and started designing patterns with just a pencil and graph paper. Years later, I've graduated to using computer software to design my patterns, but every hoop is still entirely hand stitched.

In 2015, I moved from Chicago to Northwest Montana for my dream librarian job. Because the position is part time, the income I earn from my patterns and embroidery helps me achieve my dream of living in the mountains.

My designs are inspired by pop culture, Montana scenery, and a healthy dose of sarcasm. I've tried to take the traditional craft of embroidery and give it a modern, often irreverent, twist.

What's with the name "Bananya Stand?" It's a combination of a childhood nickname, Anya Bananya, and the quote from Arrested Development, "There's always money in the banana stand."
