Working at the scroll saw
You should see what I saw
I started using a scroll saw when I was 12 years old.
I ran to the library and got a book with easy patterns and started making every pattern I could find. I would dream about making stuff for a living. (My grandfather was a bird carver and would sell at shows. I was the rug rat checking out all the booths) What a great year... then I found girls.
I quickly discovered girls are much better than wood working. They smell better and are less dusty. I still made things but mainly to impress girls. Quick side note, Teenage girls are not impressed with wood working. " I really like you, here's a napkin holder."
Flash forward a few years... a few kids and a few wives later... I decided I needed a woodworking shop.. I went to the store to get some tools and there it was, a little cheap scroll saw. Memories came back of all the good times I had so I picked it up.
I started making my own patterns, joined a few groups and kept cutting. I started making toys to entertain my kids in the shop. Kids like saw dust and telling you what to make. I found etsy and thought it would be fun to try to sell my creations and the rest is history.
Not ready to quit my day job quite yet but maybe someday.
p.s. Women like napkin holders.
