Welcome to Barakah Gardens. We're here to share the barakah (blessings) of our love for herbs & bees.

It's been a rough season for bees in our neighbourhood, so we've left the honey with them for now. If you'd like to know when we have honey available again, follow our shop or sign up for our mailing list:

On Etsy since 2019

We 💚 bees, herbs and sharing the Barakah of these things.

Barakah Gardens is a team effort. We look after the bees and they look after our garden. When there's a surplus we harvest it, bottle it and share the barakah with you.
All our products are - halal and tayyib (permissible and pure or good for you) - made with the best quality ingredients we can source, bottled in glass, paper (or aluminium/tin for non-food products) because plastic in your food is not pure or good for you.

I'm the owner, creator and jill of all trades here at Barakah Gardens. I also own Barakah Botanicals on Etsy, which you can check out here: www.etsy.com/shop/barakahbotanicals

  • 100 000+ Bees

    Pollinator, Honey Maker

Our bees are the foundation of our team, our diet and our ecosystem. We have honey bees and 2 species of native Australian bees foraging and producing honey here. We have no idea how many bees there actually are, because we're too busy to count them.

Frequently asked questions
How long is honey good for?

Honey is one of the only known food that never goes bad. Your honey might change consistency, especially if exposed to changes in temperature. To restore it's liquid consistency stand honey in its glass jar in a bowl of warm to hot water.

How do I use a beeswax wrap?

Just fold the wrap over the object to be covered and press for a few seconds. The warmth of your hands helps mold the wrap into place and helps it stick.

How do I care for beeswax wraps?

After use, rinse with cool to warm water, using soap if you like. Hang to dry and reuse when dry.

Do NOT use hot water. The wax will melt off and the wrap will no longer stick. Also you don't want beeswax in your pipes. Because it cannot be washed kn hot water we don't recommend using it on raw meat.

If your wrap is looking a little worn out you can give it a second life by placing it in between 2 sheets of baking paper and ironing it. This redistributes the wax and it'll be good to go again as soon as it has cooled.

How do I dispose of beeswax wraps?

Our beeswax wraps are 100% biodegradable, made from cotton, beeswax, oil and a touch of pine resin. You can compost it, use it as mulch around a tree, or just bury it.

How should I store my herbs or dried flowers?

In an airtight container out of direct sunlight in a cool dry place. Best before is marked where applicable but good storage is key to ensuring your herbs & flowers stay fragrant & functional for as long as possible.

Where do you get your beeswax?

We get our beeswax from our own hives or a select number of local beekeepers who we personally know, and who also don't use chemical treatments in their hive?

Why does my candle have a crack in it after burning?

Beeswax shrinks as it cools. Sometimes beeswax candles with a larger diameter will form a crack as the wax solidifies. This is not a flaw with the candle but simply a reality of burning beeswax, especially if the air around the candle is cooler.

To avoid cracks, try to cool the candle slowly in a warm area of your house, but if they do crack, don’t worry!
It's unlikely to impact the performance of the candle and will usually fill when you light the candle next.

Why are my candles not all the same colour?

Variations in beeswax colour is natural as the wax is coloured by the pollen & nectar that the bees gather. When we collect our beeswax we remove the honey without heat, then melt the wax and filter it through several sieves to remove any debris.
We do not bleach it, or change it's colour. Once it is clean we make candles, balms and wax wraps from it.
